I wrapped the cable housing with some electrical tape and held it with a pair of pliers to keep it from turning. Then, I removed the lock-nut and screwed on the flag nut. The most difficult part was getting the threading nut started straight. Thank you for the compliment on my installation. My throttle cable is a Lokar knock-off.
Couple quick questions - Where did you end up mounting your cruise module? Were you able to get by without adding one of the magnet & coil pickup kit?

I looked at mounting under my dash, but just did not have room. I ended up mounting it on the passenger side firewall. I used a pulse generator. You just unscrew the mechanical speedo cable from the transmission, then attach the generator between the transmission and cable. It has a braided wire that you run up to the control box. Very neat, but only works with GM speedo cables.

That is also where I ended up mounting mine. Above the heater box. And with that mounting spot it gives me about twice the cable length that I need. Did you have to loop yours around something to use up the extra length?

Yeah, the cable was a bit longer than necessary. I was able to push it down behind the engine and on top of the transmission then loop it back up to the carb. Worked well and looks fine.

Here is a couple of pictures of how mine came out. I was uncomfortable trying to use the looped cable anchor because it drug on the rubber sleeve that adapts the throttle rod to the carb linkage. Actually, the biggest problem that I had was getting one of the adaptors to clear all of the linkage on the Edelbrock carb. Not too crazy about the bracket that I made out of the one they supplied. I left it taller in case I end up needing to move the chain higher above the spot that it catches on the carb. But I plan to move it to my '70 El Camino with a cable throttle for next years tour. I still have to wait for one of the speedo cable adaptors to show up before I can check out how it works.

Well, since last year, I installed a Spectre Dual Air Intake System, and I'm in the middle of installed a brand new American Powertrain Hydraulic Clutch System, along with a new clutch/pressure plate/slave cylinder.

After the tour, I'll finish up the new Dakota Gauges and Vintage AC!!

me, too.....drove it the other day for the first time......the motor dyno'd at about 680 at the crank (will have final numbers soon); motor seems "chuggy" (is that a word?) below about 2200 rpm, maybe because of the cam, but....with larger headers and a 3 inch exhaust, it seems "angry".........we'll see I guess rexx!

Are you gonna run either of the drag strip venues on the tour?

Tonight, I installed a USB port next to the ash tray. Does that count?

Can wait to see (hear) it run - does this mean we will be struggling to keep up with you this year?

Rexx, I know exactly what you're talking about.... Although my big block wasn't dyno'd at 680 horses..... (Ha Ha Ha), when she's below 2100 RPM's, the engine seems "chuggy", as you described. But right at 2300, you can feel the power-band of the cam kick in. With the 4.10:1 gears out back, my 4th gear cruising through towns kill me. Jade does not like 45-50 MPH.... It's slightly too fast for 4th, but yet, way to slow for 5th and that's when I get experience the "chuggy" feeling.
