    Pontiac cam and header question

I'm helping a friend with his '65 Catalina and have a couple of questions.

He's got an Isky cam he'd like to put in it - it's a 901271 Mega Hydraulic,
.465" lift, 270 adv dur, 221 @ 0.050" on a 108 lobe center - will this work with stock valve springs and rockers? How well will it work with the rest of the combination - stock very low mileage rebuilt long block with Edelbrock Performer intake and 600 cfm vac sec Holley in a '65 Catalina with stock TH400& convertor & 3.23 gears.

Currently it's running stock manifolds with a dual exhaust. Are there any cheap headers that can be made to fit without too much reworking? It seems like 1st gen Firebird might be fairly close as they're both rear steer cars.

    Thanks

270 degrees is the longest cam that works well with a stock converter
the valve springs may be worn out and I use this size cam with stock rockers ..........very similar to the cam in my buddy's merc

Thanks, the motor has no more than 2k miles since a full rebuild so the vavlvesprings should be in decent shape.

Those Dougs are nice but hoping not to have to spend that much cash - if we could spend about $200 and only have to move or clearance a couple of tubes we'd go that route.

You might PM Thumpin' 455 - the guy's a waking Pontiac parts book! Of course, Spidey has a ton of knowledge, too.

Did I miss the part where you said how big this Poncho is? I gather stock heads are stock heads but displacement makes that cam a bit lumpy or an just an RV cam with a narrower lobe sep.

It's a 389. I've run a very similar size cam in a stockish 350 Chevy and that was fine - really I'm more concerned about the valvetrain than anything else.
