Turbo a stock'ish cadillac 500 mill and it'll look Ford'ish enough to pass. Just ask BBR

the one I got off fleabay was a china HX55 ripoff (too big, but cheap) that is supposed to flow 75lb/min. I'm not using all stock 460 parts, Ross forged pistons and Eagle h-beams. Still a low buck mill though, I'll have less than 1500.00 in the long block and the C6.
Taking a coffee break and I saw this . . . . Holy crap! My five bucks is so incinerated!

I'm only wanting to turn it up to 65-70 lbs/min for reliability. And I'm probably bringing the big N20 jets as a back-up plan (cheap turbos aren't the most reliable things known to man).

Jay K. Miller's HX55B98 map (pg.73) doesn't suggest it will be too big as a single. I don't know if the PRC clones perform like the genuine Holset map.

CSU carb . . . made of platinum? It'll be simpler to tune. But by the time I got a good hat and an intake, it won't be too far under an MS (already got most of the sensors and some other parts . . . and plenty of soldering experience . . . I wired almost every broadcast circuit at Coors Field way back in the day, so MS ought to be cake. Tuning it will be a vertical climb, though)

Two BBFs at DW ought to increase our chances (if we get 'em to Bowling Green and keep 'em together)

Back to work (hope the tornados aren't getting you) Three more hours to go.

When I was considering carbs, I came to this conclusion (BTW one of Ruggles' claims is that a Q-Jet's lack of float bowl/needle-n-seat area can be crutched-up with a good return-style fuel system and sufficient volume)

That's one of the ones I'm considering. Not happy about the price, though.
They stand behind their product. I ended up with a freebie A1000. It doesn't work and out of date. (Someone swapped an old one into a new box somewhere in transit.) It wouldn't run on today's gasoline anyways. Aeromotive didn't know me from Judas, but agreed to take it back, use it as a core for a new one.

I had a wicked dream about this whole thing, like it was September and there was an intercooler and pile of parts missing from under my hood. I woke up sweating. yuck. The good news is that I can stay off of diyturbo and http://www.hangar18fabrication.com/blowthru.html maybe and go to the garage instead. The short version of my dream is I think I'll make the thing make some noise and then worry about getting kicked out.

The complexity Bill mentioned and everyone else trying to keep this on track and going forward goes through the roof for me. If I have time I'll sweat the hairdryer but the best thing I can offer right now is that 400 hp and 3000 pounds will get you damn close to needing a rollbar. The stock Mustang lines will get you there.

I don't question your ambition / drive... but life gets in the way sometimes and 114 or whatever days is not very long.

I hate being reasonable. The link I posted above is for making your 750 Holley blow through-able.

I'm getting ansy about getting my 427 done in time....I'm not building a car, just a similar engine to what I already have. I'm way behind right now. I have to get the balancing done, get a few more parts, and start assembling...then get it in the car, and sort out the new stuff as well as fix a bazillion other little things that have needed attention for a while. Time is a fleeting.

BTW, I've done a Vortec box setup on an iron head .030 over 9:1 460 with a smallish hydro roller in a buddies car. Used a box stock 850 BG demon carb on an Edelbrock manifold just like the BBC series Freiberger did in Car Craft years back (04 I think). We adapted the BBC Vortec kit bought off Ebay with .5" steel plate. I tuned it with an AFR meter and only had to change the air bleeds a little and jet it, simple. Dream wheel based on 1/4 mile MPH says it makes 738 through a C6! Pro Street Fairlane. The thing has run great for 6 years years now and he hasn't even changed the plugs. It'll scare you when it comes up on the boost to an indicated 7.5 by the Autometer gauge.

                  My $.02 FWIW-

Fuel lines- just say no to aluminum. I would just buy a long roll of #8 braided hose and run from back to front with a return regulator somewhere along the way. After I plumbed my truck, I found out that aluminum tubing is not rated for the pressure of EFI. So I will run a surge tank. Already made one out of a 2 gallon aluminum fuel cell by adding a holley float bowl in the side to fill it from the main tank.

Carb or EFI- if you haven't set up EFI before, stick with a carb. Time is short till DW- you could spend a couple of weeks wiring and fighting wiring. Call Quick Fuel for a carb. Best carb I have ever run. If you talk to them and get it straight from them, they will set it up so freaking close it will be scary. I will never buy another Holley DP. The last one I bought I could not tune to save my life. Plus there was an interference in the bowl that kept the float from making its full travel (not to mention the cheap plastic sight plugs rot).

As for pump- Mallory for a carb (quiet and reliable). I would consider either Fuel Lab or possibly the new Holley EFI pumps- I have heard good things about both.
Why think when you can be doing something fruitful?

No doubt about that. But it helps to have a plan and follow it. Somewhere in here it'll be time to have sorted this stuff out and go to work. Jerk that smoke wagon and see what happens.
