In the 70's "they" whined about CJ's... a design never originally intended or powered to go faster than 45 mph. They bitched about VW bugs catching wind and going over. They bitched about Corvairs and 911's going through a brick wall backwards instead off frontwards. I personally never saw the point in that argument - you're going through the wall because control of the vehicle was lost. Backwards, frontwards, seems moot to me.
Glad everyone is okay. Dammit man, put new tires on everything! I pull mine off at pretty much five years on a "because" basis. My Lightning spit one out at 70mph and messed up the fender well and my BVD's pretty good. I knew I was driving the Comp TA's on it on borrowed time and it bit me in the ass. The fender repair would cost more than new tires.
As comfy and easy as it is to go 70-80mph in these mobile missiles I think we can just as easily forget about the amount of energy we are guiding. Scarey stuff man, glad y'all are okay.Flying south, with a flock of bird dogs.Comment

I'll tell you guys right now if I'd have been pulling my Firebird home when that happened I'd be in the biggest puddle of tears you ever saw, and I'm not B.S.ing. I pull cars with that truck all the time. Not that I want to, the trucks way to light, it's a do what you gotta do thing.Comment

Truck looks pretty good, considering... F fender & quarter need some new skin, mostly.
So...CRAP! You guys must've been belted in tight. A rollover in an SUV can turn into a real yard sale w/ body parts mixed in with all the stuff spread out over the freeway. Good to see things are OK....Comment

Looks like it was a slow roll. Like you were close to getting it stopped without using the metal to stop.Previously HoosierL98GTAComment

The truck wouldn't have flipped if I could have kept it on level ground. I bounced off a dirt embankment and that's what flipped it.Originally posted by HoosierL98GTA View PostLooks like it was a slow roll. Like you were close to getting it stopped without using the metal to stop.
She actually drove it to work today.Last edited by Guest; May 28, 2013, 08:07 AM.Comment

Indeed. The trucks totaled though. I'll let her burn the gas out taking it to work and that's the end of the story. It's all 35 mph max so she'll be fine.Originally posted by milner351 View PostCount your blessings indeed. You're having some real rotten luck with tires! Glad you are all OK - that could have been a lot worse.Last edited by Guest; May 28, 2013, 08:23 AM.Comment

True story. Went to Phoenix to run 7.90 at a divisional in 1998. Has tires rotated before and the guy had tire filler extension lines on dually that weren't reinstalled correctly. 20 miles out of Blythe, CA. to the west, the out side tire blew and the inside one was deflated. The only thing that kept me from losing the whole rig was the E-Z lift on the 34' tag trailer. It kept the trailer up and straight and made it easier to stop. Lost both tires on the right and tore the fender off the rt. rear. Got to Phoenix and was talking to people when they asked what happened and one group told me there was no way a blown tire could take out the most of the rear fender. Low and behold on the way home at the top of the grade, there these same guys set with a blown tire and most of the rear fender gone off the dually. Moral, if you haven't experienced it, don't try and put yourself in that position.Comment

Amen. And even if you think you've been there , something could have been different.Previously HoosierL98GTAComment

Sis-in-law lost a tire towing a 25' trailer behind her Suburban for business, jack-knifed it and took out the L.R. quarter panel and window, bad. Blocked the whole freeway. Didn't seem to want to talk about it later...I bet it was a wild ride for a minute....Comment
