Game ON! I forgot to re-install the XG1 to XG2 jumper on the board when I went back to the original settings. Running good now. Fired right up and had a clean as usual signal. Rev'ing cleanly to at least 4500rpm now. I've upgraded to MSII extra, so I'm going to try out the noise filtering. Looking good to drive the T-bird as planned now. Whoo Hoo!

Drove it around town a bit and it's packed up and ready to go. The tune is off above ~75% and is very lazy there, but for normal driving it seems to be pretty good. The O2 sensor seems to be reading funky, as the AFR's are reading what I'd like to see them be at WOT, but it's clearly running too lean or too rich (I'm thinking lean).
Got a new set of decals on it.

Not quite fresh. It's been running an MS1 since 2008, but has only been driven around town due to a bad front end alignment. I just upgraded to the MSII this week though, and the tune is a bit rough, but definitely serviceable. I'll finish off the front tires driving to CA, but I plan on Thursday to get two new front tires and a front end alignment. This trip for the car was a long time coming. Since the CC Anti-Tour wasn't going to be drag racing or auto crossing, but a car show, might as well bring something a bit more interesting, and was just he reason I needed to take it.Escaped on a technicality.Comment

You are correct about the MSII being this week. I had the hardware and wiring in place with an MSI since 2008. I must say, the software noise filtering of the MSII extra code is very nice with the noisy electrical system on this car and for triggering off the coil negative (the noisyest of rpm signal points).Originally posted by langleylad View PostI must of lost track , I thought you had just installed the MSII recently .
Thanks John, it was truely one of those stupidly simple things you chase for days. Like the time I hooked up my mechanical fuel pump backwards on my Skylark and couldn't figure out why it wasn't getting fuelOriginally posted by milner351 View PostNice troubleshooting as usual Randal.
Or leaving the rotor out of the distributor, etc. Simple.

The best one of those I can remember is having the firing order right on the distributor - in the wrong direction! (ccw vs cw)
Some times it's best to step away - or sleep on it if it's getting late - and take a fresh look at it after a bit of down time. There's always something new to learn.Comment

The answer came to me while I was mowing my lawn =P I've been known to screw up the timing on the FE engine because the #1 cylinder is on the opposite side of my Buick's.Escaped on a technicality.Comment

No kidding! Had to leave it home after all this work :*( It started leaking fuel around my return line when I was filling it up. I never have really topped off the gas tank in the last four years or so, ten gallons here and there is all and apparently that was a mistake
I've never been happy with the return line, it was my first attempt at installing one, and I definitely didn't do it right. So now its on the "list" of things to do in the near future. I'm pretty disappointed.
