another damn grand prix LOL (97 Frankenstien GT sedan)

the car is a 1997 Grand Prix GT sedan southern car lived in gorgia untill 2007 it's seen one and only one winter body has 240,000 miles

now why is it called Frankenstien? well it has parts from every year of the 97-03 grand prixs or close too it. in 97 the GTs and SEs had the 4t60 vacuum assited trans and a diffrent ABS unit and traction and the only year to have a tire pressure monitor

here is the thread the previous owner made about the trans swap on the other board i am on http://www.gpona.com/forums/transmis...gt-t24345.html

the engine is from a 98 or 99 GTP it came our of a 97 GTP but is missing a vacuum tee that the 97 GTPs had so it was not the original engine from that car. the car it came out of was in a horrible crash from street racing the car did a barrel roll after the passenger wheel caght the ditch then after it hit the ground 100 yards later it when end over end four 400 yeards untillt he roof hit a tree and the car landed ont he wheels facing the way it was orginaly going. shockingly no one died

    here is the engine doaner

the 4t60 was sppoed for a 4t65 out of a 2001 SE. the 4t60 died 3 times and is not strong enough to handle boost

to get the tran to work we swapped the engine bay harness for one form a another 97 GTP as the oen that was in the wrek was un-usable

the interior in the car is from a 1998 GT sedan. car originaly had tan cloth now it has charcoal

the radio, struts, brakes, rims, tires, and the exhuast is from my old 2001 GT coupe lol

besides just the randome pats swapping it has a reflashed PCM with a dyno tune file, 3" exhuast down pipe, cat delete, the cat back is larger diameter with a glasspack resinator, open filter intake

here is the pics of the car before the 300 mile journey

and after 300 miles on a traler in a michigan winter

    the two GPs

going to steal the good parts off the the silver one and it will be demoted to winter sacrafice. it's clear turn siganals, beefy front sway bar, and strut braces

just what you needed a pontiac

I swear your parts need loaner stickers (like the library uses) so you can track what car they came from, and keep track of the ones you've swapped

Who drove the parts donor off a cliff?? You're like those creepizoid harvester surgeons.

Mark all the donor parts from all the cars with yellow paint like the junkyards.

17 year old girl racing her brother in a 78? trans am. the trans am did a PIT on the GTP by accident both cars where going way above 100MPH

the trans am just hit the ditch then ran into the GTP after it hit the tree

i do not think the doaner engine is 100% stock as the green car moves i need to take off the vlave covers and take a peak

Gotta love that sibling rivalry. Did their parents bury them in the forest behind the cars?

my 2000 SLP GTX and 99 GTP give his cars a good run. i get snow in the trunk of the GTP do to the lack of strut tower metal and rockers.

and the GTX turned into a banana

did some work mainly finished up the swap he started he never had time to work out the bugs as he only drove it for 40 miles

hooked up the over flow it was puking coolant when i got to work - oops

battery would go dead after being fulley charged put it on the load tester and it would jsut instantly go 10.6v so it proably has a bad cell new battery and the car starts right up even after sitting for all day

car was a little squirrly on the ice PO said he never did an alignment afte tthe struts where switched out and the cradle was dropped 6 times. specs where off but where still with in adjustment used the rack when i was off the clock car rins dtraght as an arrow now and rides smooth. the progressive rate springs make a huge diffrent over the single rates the GPs normaly got

abs does nto work and there is no light need to hook up my scan tool to read the brake controle modual and see why proably just a plug did nto get hooked up and the bulb is burnt out

battery + cable was rubbing on the superchaeger idler pulley that is on the coil bracket put heat shrink over the cable and then moved the battery farther back and used a zip tie to hold the cable away from the pulley

topped off the coolant that burped out

but besides that it hands the 99 GTP i have it's butt in spades. mainly do to the fact of the better gear ratio and it's 300lbs lighter do to not having all of the options the silver one has

GM did that with the 2000 G8 concept car using a aztek AWD and a 5.7L LS1

issue was the rear axle assepmbly kept breaking and the LS1 was detuned to only 310hp

bought some parts fro the transmission core. when i get ready to build that i will make a second thread going for perfomance so the trans is going to cost more then the car did.

                              so far have
                              master seal and gasket kit
5 friction input clutch pack (stock is 4 friction)
thicker steels second gear clutch pack (to tighten put the clutches stock is varry loose)
double sided friction 3rd gear clutch pack with raybeso red friction material (hard to find discontinude had a spare set)
4340 fordged input shaft (stock is cast)
                              hardened pump shaft
hardend 4th gear hub shaft (stock on 04+)
04+ input and 3rd gear spargs (needed with the clutch packs i have)
forged output shaft (stock lieks to shatter when drag racing)
                              LSD for the diff

still need a new valve body the one int he core trans is too warn out and i do nto have a drill press to use the sonix kit, also need a new internal harness and solinoids. going to have $2300 in this trans and i am doing the work that's just parts. a stock rebuild could be done for 500 but then you are left with a stock 4t65
