I got a couple pics of the lighter. The car still smells. Looks like the first in my life I'll buy one of those christmas tree air fresheners...or two.

That's the plastic that got melted. Not a lot, but noticeable.


That knob, round piece of steel, and pile of white dust is what's left of the lighter. It landed right there.

Looks like you got pretty lucky. Good thing the tray was there who knows what could have happened if it fell on the carpet.

It fell apart when I pulled it out. That's where it all landed.

close call....I guess I'll stick with my old metal dashboard cars. Or throw away all the cigarette lighters.

That's a bummer about the dash melting. I didn't realize it was that bad. That would annoy the poop out of me.

I tried Comet washing the Caprice today. It kinda worked. The roof lost a lot of it's surface rust. It has a skunk stripe as I am vertically challenged. It does look a little bit better. Paint is still rough feeling. I'll take a clay bar to it tomorrow. See if that helps.

I just noticed this thread has gone over 100,000 hits. Amazing this car, which is so not mainstream muscle, would be that interesting. The Impala's thread is nearly 100,000 as well. I'm flattered you guys like these cars that much.

I'm just glad to see someone having fun with 2 big, old Chevys that doesn't involve:

1. Gold plating
2. 24" hoops
3. Demo derbies
4. Pulling the engine to put in a Camaro.

On those pic where you have comet washed it,it looks so great with the rallies and faded paint..(i may be partial there).

BUT,as popular as it is here on this site..are there anybody that sees it in real,and give you thumbs up?
