The crowd was spellbound as it happened - it was shocking! Then we went nuts when he got out and put his hands up. My buddy missed it because he went to the head! I remember hearing that his crew was pissed at him because they thought he could have prevented it by lifting but he wanted to back up his record run. A few years ago I was talking to him about it at New England Dragway and he made a snippy wise crack to me. I was gonna buy his book then I thought "what a jerk!".

I remember when that happened.
A few years ago a Top Alcohol dragster had a blowover. They think the driver was knocked out, because the car ran back up the track at full throttle, slamming into her own tow vehicle, killing the driver and her son.
