Re: Carnage Video: Terrible Drag Racing Crash, Camaro Head-On Into the Wall
What was scary after he hit the first wall and was heading straight for the other, you can see the shift light light up his helmet right before the second hit.
And, yes that track looked like it needed help.
Question to drag racers. Track condition becomes more imperative as the cars get faster. What can you as drivers do to get the track managers to take care of a track that is not prepared up to snuff? What would happen if you refused to run as a group?BS'er formally known as Rebeldryver

Re: Carnage Video: Terrible Drag Racing Crash, Camaro Head-On Into the Wall
It is completely impossible to look at a piece of video and make any determination about track conditions unless you see water seeping up through the track.
I have literally had guys in 11 second cars in the tower bitching at me about how shitty a track is as a 6 second pro mod runs right down broadway.
The problem with a group boycotting the track conditions is that there will always be one maniac who will run...even on an ice rink. If there's money to be made people start doing dumb things.
That which you manifest is before you.

racers race to win..
ever hear the phase "checkers or wreckers"
racers don't lift.. they think they can drive through it..
by the time the driver, goes .. time to lift. it's to late.. and your on for the ride..
and if it was a cash run.. it's balls out.. remember.. untill the other car makes it across the line. you still can win..
how many rounds been won by a car that was out of shape but didn't lift ,just feathered the car. and the other car didn't cross the line..
real racers know this and never give up and lift.. they feather it..
again, if it was money run.. they never lift.. it's just a part of racing..
once he crossed the centerline. he should've lifted. and it might've been the case but by then he was just along for the ride..

That said, there are tracks in Texas that use little or nothing and are bumpy as hell - people run down 'em balls out anyway. Your choice.
In times past, there wasn't much of any track prep that I remember. If you had hook issues, you went and worked on your car. More modern bracket racers sometimes like to blame things on the track.
Now that said, our track manager is meticulous about prep. A good track draws customers. It's prepped consistent from race to race. We haven't had a 3.xx ProMod run yet, but our typical DA is over 3500' too. Track temp was barely 49F on Sunday with the air temp in the mid 40s. Modified made the only passes before the rain started and ETs were similar to the Dallas area, which is over 1000' lower in altitude than here.
