Heck, they covered the dragstrip in dirt at Heartland Park Topeka the first couple World of Outlaws races before building a permanent bullring nearby. As I remember, it was sort of paper clip-shaped - meaning the turns weren't very fast - but the straightaways were wicked quick. The racers hated it, as I remember.

I remember watching that on tv and still think its one of the greatest races I have ever seen in person or on tv. If i remember correctly the tv guys were saying the sprint cars were turning times a 1/2 second off of the cup cars - now thats just plain flat movin
