Re: Speedy Says: The Top 11 Things That Get Speedzzter's Goat

speedster , hatred of the bowtie really kills your journalistic integrity ... i believe , had Dale sr lived , jr would have had a few championships at this point , he really had a lot of sharp guys working over at the now defunct DEI , all of the big sponsors , even made a winner out of also ran mikey waltrip
Craven , no he was not in victory lane in the 41 , a casual fan like yourself does not see the nuances of what makes drivers hot , but the bucks down car was up front , that is why rick hendrick fired schrader and hired craven , before the talladega crash
hendrick had won the coveted budweiser sponsorship from that old mule junior johnson [ruinous switch to ford ] and it was a priority to keep that car out front

Like I said earlier, doesnt matter what else happens, he will start from the front row, not bad for a hack.

Seems to me that your hatred of all that is not GM affects the legitimacy of your posts as well. Everyone has biases, even "journalists." That's why they call stuff like speedy's blog entry "opinion pieces."

His opinion is that Dale Jr. is not worthy of all the blind hero worship that surrounds him.

I have to agree with his point of view...although probably for different reasons.

As much as I admire & respect many different drivers and other figures within motorsports, they just drive cars - usually for money. Heros are people who have selflessly done things that positvely affect the lives of others. They are not football/basketball/hockey players, they are not musicians or movie stars, and they are not race car drivers.

That's my opinion on the cult of personality that surrounds entertainment industry figures like actors, musicians and Nascar personalities.

I agree that all those you mentioned are not heroes. They are role models, and if you can tell me why Jr shouldn't be a role model I'd like to hear it.

And am I the only one that thinks Jrs biggest obstacle his whole career was his cousin?

I like these lists. Like everyone else, I don't agree with everything on them but I like to read what other people think

GM has been my paycheck through good times and bad
working for the used car department tells us how putrid the other makes are
in my neighborhood , you have stand for something
before the internet , this argument was in the stands with ford fans at different winston cup and nhra tracks we attended
smaller audience , but a helluva a lot more fun
speedster is some wannabe auto journalist , hooking his no audience blog to this audience , he is not only long winded and boring , he carries the ford banner , which is like waving a red flag in front of a bull
