Re: Craigslist Find: A Weirdo, Homebuilt, Mini Big-Rig
These used to be common, called "Hot Shots". Often pulled 48 foot flatbed trailers. If you had bulky, lightweight items delivered quick, this was the way. Popular in the oilfields in the 80's. The fullsize fifth wheel is just fine, they aren't really that heavy. And the frame on that truck is the same width as a semi tractor, 34 inches if I recall. They fell out of favor when they figured out a fairly light truck and electric brakes on the trailer was a bad idea in the mountains, and medium duty trucks did the same work cheaper. I sure wouldn't drag 7 cars around with this thing.

I remember hot shots at a styrofoam insulation panel factory in mass.
seems smart enough, except the weight and wind..and at the same year as this one, the 6.2 diesel was thumping along.
the 454 is a dufus. Old ones with super stoichs, so called rare legends.. it is still a dufus on gas.
I bet one does grab it for the engine, it is not all that strong.Previously boxer3main
