The one "mistake" that you should never be sorry for. They are a great excuse for still acting like a kid when you aren't supposed to anymore.

I have 4 ,3 from the first time,23 ,21 ,17 ,I am 43. And one that's 15 months, wouldn't trade anything for any of them, but Damn that 15 month old is precious. And whats even worse is my 23 y.o. has a 10 month old.
Love em,Hug em, squeeze em,and buy em pedal cars ,give em your toys,they will be just fine.

Wise words, indeed, in a very real sense. My dad was there with us, but he was always "checked out," disengaged. He didn't want kids, either, and, although he loved us, he never made any real effort to show it. I gave him the silent treatment for a couple of years several years ago as a way of saying "thanks for nothing." But, I couldn't live with all the anger -- it was too much and clouded everything for me -- so I had to forgive. We're mending things now, having some good times, hope to throw back a few beers with him over the holidays.

All that to say: be intentional in raising little Jimmy G!! Make the most of every opportunity! It's cliche, but it's cliche for a reason!

Happy Birfday, little dude!! Can't wait to see your first bucket of bolts!!
