Still though, Who's story do you tell him (marty) :'(
Sucks across the board. If the it wasn't bad EverywhereI'd be feeling a little worse about my own situation.
Anyone want to buy a Land Surveying Firm.
I'll cut ya a hell of a deal, and if the market improves you could make a killing. (lol)
Hold your heads up boys, it an only get worse.
    Chris

    yikes, someone brought up Enron...

I had a good friend I worked with, who quit our company and went to work for - you guessed it - Enron. He went there about 4 months before it folded up. He told me how he put about $400,000 of his 401K monies into the Enron 401K plan. Then suddenly, there was a 3 month period where their internal web site to monitor and change your 401K investments, was "offline" - employees were complaining, etc. Next thing he knows, he's stuck in Texas $400,000 poorer. He believes they were hiring executives with big 401s to transfer in, *just* to pad the accounts of the guys milking the rest of the employees. He'll never fully recover from it.

    I agree, especially with 1.
I had two Great Uncles that worked in the Studebaker factory in South Bend. I remember them working in grocery stores well into thier 70's because their retirements went away.
I worked for a company that went bankrupt a few years ago (it was an ESOP) the president and CFO did basically the same thing as the ENRON execs., but because it was a much smaller loss that affected fewer people (and it wasn't a publicly traded stock) the Federal Government ignored it. They lied about profits and borrowed money to pay themselves 100,000+ bonuses. There are people that were within a year or two of retiring who have told me that they'll never be able to afford to retire now. And the two execs. that stole all of that money and ruined the company got away with it.

The auto makers want the working mans tax dollars to bail them out, but still want to charge you $50,000.00 for a new pick up truck?! Whats wrong with this picture? I know this is how companies make there money but hasn't the light bulb turned on yet? People are starting to get a little smarter with what little money they do have. This is only my opinion.

When the new deal was in the works, Nardelli was the biggest worrying point. Now he goes and does this?!...moron. Dude needs to go, and now.

I think this is exactly correct.

I think Studebaker, after it was purchased by Packard, continued on but was never a player after that time in the automotive industery, even if the Packard name disappeared and the Studebaker moniker was maintained. Also Studebaker continued in one form or another after it ceased producing automobiles. It merged with Worthington and became Studebaker-Worthington. In the '70's, I think, it was purchased by McGraw-Edison. Recently it has reappeared as Studebaker-Worthington Leasing owned by Main Steet Bank. Thus Studebaker really never needed rescuing as it kept on after it ceased automobile production.

Even the engine is from Chrysler.
I was puzzled when I first saw the Routan too. It's basically and upscale Caravan built on the same assembly line in Ontario. I'm not sure what VW is trying to do with this one :-\

Instead of "Thank You", I think they would accomplish more by letting the public know exactly how they are going to save themselves.

    *groans, rolls eyes*

They(being GM and Chrysler) want to thank us?

Get back on a fiscally sound footing, pay back this "loan/bailout/whateveryouwanttocallit", and build quality vehicles that we want and can afford.

I'd wager Bob Nardelli will have a hell of a time find work as a pooper-scooper in a city park after all of this shakes out.
