Finally 3 steps forward on my hustling.

About 3 years ago started on my quest to get the car I wanted when I came back from Vietnam. I got home for Christmas of 1966. The next day I found out my sister had drained my bank account, I had just enough in there to keep the account open, No new car for me. Bummer.

Fast forward to a trip to San Fran to pick up a Pontiac OHC-6 Sprint engine for $100 3 years back, Put it in the back of my Subaru and brought it home.

Ended up dropping it on my knee and out of commission for almost two years,

Spent some time trading this and that and with my eye on the prize. Finally made the deal I was looking for Sunday. A home for the Sprint 6 . Pics to follow.

Only main things missing from the basket are dash/ gauges and front sears. If a 65 dash will fit, got that covered already from Brother in law.

          Very nice start.

My buddy is just about finished with his. It was a wreck, needed full quarters and was missing much of everything. Here it is before buffing.

Of all the paths you take in life - make sure a few of them are dirt.

Would love to hear that one running.
            I had a four door chevelle, 1974 (the big ones). 250 i-6.
could not even feel the virbration of engine on the shifter, the 1 bbl rochester would whistle once cold weather came in, at an idle.

That is a value not many think of. I am one that likes my gmc half ton sounding like a luxury car. Very quiet. V8 or not.

A body shop owner had this one for years, so its already got new quarters, rust treatment and misc welding done on it. I listed my 77 Monte locally and going to take the 66 Impala down to Monroe, Wa. Swap meet to see if there are any takers, Been working for a week to clean out my shop, installed a new IR 60 gallon 5hp compressor and hope to have air lines done before I leave on a Salvage Yard Road trip on Friday for three days.

That black is going to look fine indeed.

It is amazing to me how many veterans came home from 'Nam with their accounts drained..
Glad to see you are able to try to get your dreams fulfilled!
Would love to run Monroe again but their derby keeps outlawing my cars!
Have a cousin that came home from 2 tours with enough to buy a 69 SS396 Camaro.. His mom left him enough for a downpayment between insurance and payments, he had to let it go..

Without even saying a word you already know I like it....

That black one's sharp as hell but it looks like the original color was burgundy, not a bad color either.

We could buy a car through some deal the PX had and pick it up in Castro Valley or Vallejo I think it was when we got home, Since I came home in the early years, the main buys were a bit earlier. The 65 Malibu, bunch of Mustangs, VW and several Dodge/ Plymouth/ Chrysler cars.

I have enough Basecoat/Clearcoat, primers and such to do the Sprint. Its not going original though. Going to try within reason to keep the costs from getting out of control. I have a Gallon of GM 11 About a gallon ofClick image for larger version

It's to bad you're not local. I've got an aluminum 2 spd out of a 66 I doubt I'll ever use.

What part of AZ. Drove down twice to deliver a couple loads of my camera collection when I sold it. 2 truck and trailer loads. Lake Havasu City on those trips. You are talking old PowerGlide right? Now finishing off what's left of everything else misc. to take back my shop space. Another work day and should be able to get the car in with plenty of spare room to move around.
