super stock - any intake that fits under the stock hood with a stock carburetor , meaning that is an L78 396 375 hp

car has chevy aluminum heads on it as well. nash 5 speed, dana 60, ladder bars. Bolt in roll bar is long gone but holes remain in floors. It shows under 13k on the odometer and the original cal yellow/black plates are with it-last regestered in 1975!! The cowl body tag is apparently not original as the color codes and dates are a mis match, and the vin WILL NOT ID the car as anything but a 68 camaro-no SS, big block, stick or auto info available. The guys on the camaro forums are all over this stuff, tons of info out there. but so far no one recognizes this car.

aluminum heads and a 5 speed mean modified production

                      couldn't also be a L89?

Actually it would be an L78/L89. They were separate options. The L89 option was only available with L71, L72, and L78 engines.

                          l89 came out in 69
the 5 speed is illegal in s/s back then

i found that there 272 built in '68 and 311 built in '69.
so odd's are, its probably not, but it still could be, right?

Ya never know. 'Class Legal' SS Cars are 'QUITE' pricey to say the least. I DO like the colored inserts on there 8). ~J/W-OO6.
