        I would guess they are date or shift codes. The calibration should be completely specified by the part number.

          Re: q jet decode .. anyone want to take a guess

          i've decoded the first part of the #. but it doesn't tell you what it's off of (engine/car model)

          ones part no is
          7045213 YA
          0085

          704=1970-75
          5= year 1975
          2= q jet
          1= chevy
          3= manual trans(odd# manual,even # auto)

          I'm gonna guess that the YA and 0085 is model and engine

          THE 2ND IS

          7043263 JB
          0813

          704=1970-75
          3=1973
          2=qjet
          6=pontiac
          3=manual tranny

          JB and 0813 must be model and engine

            I would NOT guess that the letters mean model or engine. They're most likely production numbers which tell you when it was made, etc. But they are probably meaningless as far as getting kits for the carbs.

            The first one shows up in my 1975 truck shop manual , used in lots of trucks for federal emissions. Shows up in the old Standard HyGrade carb book as using the 1585 carb kit and FL1 float

            The second shows up in the HyGrade book as a 73 pontiac, doesn't specify what engine, kit 652A and FL1
