vortec truck engine '96-02 water pump question

A buddy wants me to install this crate engine in his 67 gmc truck..

it's 1999.95 at pace.
has a roller cam in place but the water pump they list is this


do you have to run that style pump with the two steel hose bungs(or is that just if installing in a 96-02 truck)

can you use a old chevy style short water pump.. I can't see a reason you can't
as he'll be running a edel vortec intake (175.oo to g.m.s 350.oo)

I'm pretty sure that pump is specific to those year trucks as far as the fittings. Any sbc w/p should work with that engine.

I believe it's gotta be a reverse rotation pump if using the serpantine belt setup.

If you are putting it in a 67 and are useing the pulleys etc... for the car/truck you can use what ever pump you want
the 73 corvette I did we started with a 98 vortec 350 and built a 360 out of it vortec heads etc... used a water pump etc... for the vette works great

Vortecs as used in that series of trucks are standard rotation pumps ....

thats what I thought...

the 330hp 350 is 2800.oo and vortec heads and CR of 9.0 but flat tappet

the truck vortec is a cr of 9.4 and roller cam.. but 2 bolt mains..

both are iron cranks and powered roda and hyp pistons..
900.oo more for four bolt mains but loose the roller cam..
nope.. not today..
but for what he wants out of it.. it'll be fine.. maybe a hotter cam..
so 350hp is a piece of cake..

I'd give up the 4 bolts for a roller cam and better C/R .....
