Lots of Deaths in Alabama

From what I've heard from my AL friends is that this was one of the worst weather hits they've seen. I think power is out in some cities (like Huntsville) and not expected to be back on line until next week. Tuscaloosa seemed to be hit the worst. I don't think we'll hear from our AL BSers for a few days.
Thoughts and prayers for those hit by this. Hope recovery is coming soon.Tampa, FL

Man, I was just on AOl's new feed, and looking at the complete mess they have.
Lot of people hurt/killed. Depressing.
Thoughts go out to them all.Andrew

We made it okay, but it was plenty scary. Everybody at work was comparing damage today, and some folks didn't come in at all for having to work on their damage. The south end of our county got mowed over (we live on the north en), must have been a tornado. I haven't seen any of the news coverage, the power was off last night, and we're real lucky to have it back on so quick.
We're mighty lucky and thankful. I've got a photo somebody took of the mill about a half hour after I left. I'll try to get it posted up here real quick.

Turk's in Enterprise, AL. way south, I think the storms went north of him. My hometown of Ringgold, GA got slammed, and downtown is basically gone.
From KT's facebook "Wow... Northern Alabama took a major hit last night... we're good down here in south" 8 hours ago.Last edited by Pumpkin; April 28, 2011, 01:25 PM."Somewhere the zebra is dancing". Garth Stein's The art of racing in the rain.

I left work yesterday at 2:00. I was watching the radar and timed my getaway to be at home when the mayhem hit.
Around 2:30 aomebody pulled over on the river bridge and took this shot. That's my workplace on the left. All the cars in the parking lot got all pinged up by hail. The all look like somebody had taken about 20 minutes tapping them with a ball peen hammer. Not huge dents, just dimples like on a golf ball.

From where we are, it was scary, but I get scared when it thunders. Let alone when it gets BAD.
The 6:00 news out of Chattanooga this evening, they took a helicopter video tour...oh my. Matt pointed out that his home town of Ringgold got flattened, yeah it did.
Just unimaginable destruction. All we were at our house was without power and scared to death for a little while. It came in three waves. It didn't stop. We remained safe and undamaged, and we realize today how very lucky we are. Just another thing to remind us how lucky we are.Charter member of the Turd Nuggets
