Last week the Daytona infield family lost a long time member. Corky, who was called by many "the mayor" of the infield, passed away from a heart attack.
One of the regulars of the turn 3 infield called the management of DIS and arranged for a party in Corky's honor today.
There were perhaps 200 people in attendance. The plans were to have a slide show running, have a bbq/ pot luck meal, have a sort of wake or memorial, and watch the race on a big screen - all of this done by campers. I think the race in Chicagoland was rained out, but the celebration in Daytona wasn't. A good time was had all.
The cool part - DIS opened the gates and allowed this memorial celebration on the infield free of charge.
