macadam is what some folks on the East coast call Asphalt.... or black top. No idea where the term came from, but my Dad who was born and raised in NJ calls asphalt, macadam.
There's always something new to learn.

OK, thanks. Like when I was in New York year ago we called it sheetrock....which here in Socal it's called drywall. I think one's a manufacturer's name for it(?) and the other might be a nickname. But, the point is, the east calls the same product by a different name than the west

I always thought the west called things by a different name than the East? Lol.

More from National Trails in 1992ish...

Of all the paths you take in life - make sure a few of them are dirt.

Kinda like soda, pop or cola for a Coke or Pepsi. Depends where you are.
Even goes for what we call our cars brands, up north they are called a chevies, down south they always say Chevrolets.

Like many modcons in the world (telephone, TV), asphalt was invented by a Scot -- McAdam. Hence the term, a McAdamized road.

Yep, the traction here is decent. Didn't we order wheelie bars for this effin' thing?!

On September 5 1982 I was 13 years old..on that day I witnessed water set on fire!...I remebering getting up at 5am to go out to the lake with my Dad...he and 4 friends were using their jeeps to tow trams to ferry spectators for the boat drags at Brenda Resivior in Chowchilla,Ca. At about 7 am the trans were filling up and people were settling in. Our tram was completely full when Eddie Hill and Fuzzy Carter asked if they could ride in the back of the jeep. I asked Eddie if it was gonna be a good day.....he replied...does it get breezy in the afternoon?...I said not bad...just a little. He said"Son...if we get little 3-4" ripples on the water.....your gonna see history today"...Most TF boats ran around 205 all morning long. Eddie Hill waited til the later part of the qualifying session..then ripped off the 229.00 MPH blast...keep in mind 215.00 was the record..That boat shook the earth that day. And the water never shook that hard again for 11 years...YES...11 years he held the top MPH on water for Drag Boats..That boat was so thin light could pass through it...the spars in bottom were half the size of normal...it was built to do what it did...turn water into FIRE.

And a side note.... I now own the closest house to that lake...I'm less than a 1/2 mile from it....can't wait for Drag Boats to return.... FREE CAMPING for BS Members....lol
