McDonnell F2H3 Banshee - Korea Vets in RCN Service

Sorry about the quality, but not bad for 55 years ago. My old man flew these when he was a young pup...they were bought used from the USN in 1955 and flew off Canada's last a/c carrier.

This is a concept being devoloped at MIT. It's called the D8, or the Double Bubble. I believe the name refers to the fuselage being designed like two individual fuselages morphed together. The design is undergoing wind tunnel feasabilty testing. Lightwieght with low aspect wings, lifting body and complete composite construction.

Lockheed advanced concept. square wing provides added lift and they say, less drag...subsonic.

Lockheed also likes the double wing for supersonic flight as they say it will seriously reduce sonic booms... ok.......

And this Boeing design for a silent supersonic jet that can travel over land is only slightly more conventional.

Northrup Grumman likes the flying wing design for its efficiency... I like rudders.

I posted this on the embeding post. But I thought it would be good here . It is about the record setting flight of the sr-71. you can even hear the starter carts cranking up the engines. Hope you enjoy like I did. Both starter carts can be heard at 2:31! sounds like dyno pulls! If I remember correctly they were Buick powered originally , then replaced with BBCs .

That movie sucked. Even with Jessica Biel in a tight-ass flight suit.
