March Meet dragster crash today cause?

Anyone know what caused a dragster to hit the wall today. I hope the guy's OK. To me it looked like a black piece of something came off the car around 1000 feet. The car then became somewhat airborne and hit the wall near the stripe

Yes, that looks like it. No mention as to the cause. Was I right thinking I saw a small black object leave the car before it went airborne...before hitting the wall?

Car got loose at about the eighth mile. No direct cause given. Pretty amazing job to keep the thing on the wheels.
