Not a bad looking old Dodge....last truck I seen of that vintage was a standard-cab 1-ton(which is an oddity here in Indiana) that belonged to a friend...most have rusted to the ground, and the Dodge duallys of that time were few and far between around here). Might have been a 74-75..still had the single round headlights.
Come to think of it, it was wearing the same exterior colors as well...only rust on it was a slight amount at the cab corners. Tan interior that was MINT...not a tear in the checked seat upholstery, not a crack one in the dashpad...carpet was a little faded, but otherwise in fantastic condition.
Stock 400, fragged and replaced with a 318(in a 1-ton dually...LMAO), still had the 727(I believe)....otherwise clean as can be. Sold it not 3 weeks after he bought it.

The rear is an 8 3/4 with 3.55 gears. With the A-518 Overdrive transmissions .69 4th gear the final drive will be 2.45, which should be great on the freeway. I'm hoping for great fuel economy with this rig once it is all set up and tuned.
I built the trans crossmember last night, and have it installed now. Just have to put all the accessories on, and the headers. Thinking about fabbing the exhaust system out of a bunch of old junk pipes from various cars that are lying around. It is unreal what muffler shops charge for a dual exhaust system these days, so I might try to save a few bucks here.

It comes from the unreal prices for steel these days. Prices have nearly tripled in the last couple of years.

Great work - I'm with you on the lack of detailing on a vehicle like this - the engine trans and cross member look fabulous - the floors of the cab aint rusty - so dont' worry about it. In a couple years you'd look at how dirty they had gotten from regular use and thought of the time and effort wasted on detailing them.
there is a dude running 'roud Tucson with an old beat up Dodge...its white and pretty non-descript if you dont know what you're looking at. The first clue that something ain't right is the wide fiberglass step side fenders...then the really wide tires....and when he pops the hood the final clue that you dont want to eff with him is the twin turbo fed big block ... uber cool truck.
If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark Donohue
Big Dad's truck is immaculate... very nice indeed!
I wouldn't be a whole lot surprised if Steve's truck goes 20mpg or a bit more. I think it's the Aero (lack of) on my trucks that starts playing a huge role above 60 or 65 mph.
Do you think it's still going to want 36* with the TQ20?
I'm wondering if it will run on less than premium.. thinking maybe 195-200 or so cranking PSI? Do you think the "smaller" bore will let you run regular with that? Can somebody explain to me why any bore smaller than 4" is "small"? lol.
Thanks for humoring me, I know I sound like a little kid with a million questions.
