Deaf Bob's sent me so many photos on email....it makes me want to do the demo thing myself. That has GOT to be fun. But not with Red.

EDIT: My only experience with the demolition derby was as a sort of spectator/pit crew member. Sort of. It was back in the '80's. I kinda held the flashlight as three of us got the car ready.

Bruce drove the car. He always wanted to hit something with a car, Back then, he'd say, "If you pull out in front of me I'll HIT YOU!"

And I always said, man have you ever been in a wreck?

He'd say, "No, but I ain't scared of one." Cocky? Yeah.

Because he'd never been in one.

So the demolition derby game started and Bruce's car got hit in the ass right away and the drive shaft fell out of it.

So he sat there in the middle of the mud track getting hit by whoever cared to hit him. Over and over until the game was over.

At the end I asked him, "So, whaddaya think?"

He said, "I don't want to do that again."

Yeah, that question is a good one. After all, the cars have to be made out of metal. And they have to run a little bit. And when it's over that one's gone.

DB's on a road trip right now. When he gets back I'm sure he can enlighten us a whole lot about the whole sport. While most of us are sitting around breathing, Deaf Bob is at a demo derby somewhere.

Wish I was at a demo... Was burying my mother in law...
          Now that's over...
The crown vics seem to be doing well in the midwest... Cuz the good old iron like the mid 70's GM's rusted away or got derbyed already
We have been using old FOMOCO's with the chevy small block...
And we are using the mid 70's GM's
The 80's up vics seem pretty good, but against old Fords and GM's... Not so good..
We are trying early 90's Caprices... Just cuz some say they are good and others say they are junk..
The Caprices seem to have a strong inner bumper.. But MAN!.. Everything seems so flimsy.
I'll add more tomorrow... I walked in at 11:30 my time after driving from Pocatello Idaho to Idaho Falls then to home. 16.5 hrs of driving... This old fart's pooped!

Price of scrap made free cars obsolete...
So yes, getting hard to find...
Helps to have running gear to swap into every car
Days of grabbing running/driving cars and demoing are pretty much gone..

            I WILL say this:
DEMOING is the most fun you can have with your clothes on!
Best part? When the hitee looks up and sees the impact just as it happens!

It is best to be moving... Sitting ducks die...
Always better to be a hitter than a hittee..

I have pics, none scanned .. I ran demo-cars back in the late 70's .. weapon of choice for me was 60,61,62 Fords ..
worked on those cars day / night for months to get them ready ..won a few, had just a blast doing it was a small , budget thing

had a few small sponsors ...Now, it is a real serious thing , and Teams dominate

I was just thru a smal town in central Nebraska .. he had 36 Buicks and a few others ready to rock
