  • What's Paradise?

Got an email today. I get so many, and that's a great thing.

Not to say what the email was about (it was politically charged), but in the attached music video, there were a lot of pretty photos of cloth hammocks stretched between two palm/coconut trees on the shore of an exotic island. Like that's paradise. And I guess it is/would be to a lot of folks.

That's a recurrent theme - want to get away? Photos of tropical islands with hammocks.

I dunno, I just don't get it. I guess the hammock thing is just to suggest relaxation, but the only time I tried to stretch out in one, I fell out of it - WHUMP - onto the ground. Yeah, that was fun.

And a tropical island? I'll bet there's no cell phone or internet signal. Is THAT what relaxation is? Actually I'd like to communicate with the folks who mean a lot to me.

I hereby submit that the tropical island hammock thing is only a ruse by the tourism companies to get us to spend our money to fly or boat there, only to find out it's too hot and there are too many bugs to enjoy the hammock to start with.

paradise is a place that does not have a hidden annual pothole crater behind your car only..
a second story chimney aimed at your second story window, a balemic having her obese way the tiny american city sewage system, and not another who neighbor vomits to the vomit..
paradise does not have a truck outside with decaying dead animals in the back past 30 days for no reason other than insanity.

    maybe thats it.

    paradise has no insanity.

paradise is a climb to a better place with an economy, weather, less taxes, and the convenience associated with your real bubble of life.

may the climb to paradise bellow like a super car and have the mileage of a 1 barrel....

    hammocks suck.

I'm in agreement with Barry, except with the hammock part. A really good one properly hung is a wonderful thing. or there's this >> http://www.paradisedragstrip.net/

paradise is the comfort of family and friends like our fellow bangshifters who are always willing to laugh and cry with you, give a shoulder or a hug when needed, the best advise they can(needed or not), and in general just be there... it's great when we see each other in person, but, in ways, more important that you can be reached almost daily to share in our lives... paradise is what you make it...it's amazing how good things can be if you set your sights low enough... smile and wave boys, smile and wave!!

Anyone can come up with their own version of paradise. But a lot of people don't recognize what it truly means to them until they realize that they paid out of the ass for what they normally found. Some people are just happy to spend money. Nothing wrong with that either if you've got it.

The picture isn't my paradise. It does, however, reflect two key points I hold to:
              1. I value peace, quiet, and the world I live in, and I enjoy every minute of it, and
              2. I can recognize those moments without having them told to me.

              In that regard, I'm good.

I like how they say "...place that 'seems' to be perfect".

                  Paradise;

When your Dad says good job kid..
The rusty part you found & made new again.
That moment your wife is happy, for a moment..
Your pet waking you up, usually for food, but on time..
Your 84yr old grandma making it to 85, AND baking the cake!
Waking up... in one piece, remembering where/who you are, still...

Paradise is any place where you are happy and at peace. It could be your own home, the shop you work on your car, it could be an island where you are out of touch with those who try on your inner piece.

For me, its the place and time I spend with my family and friends. The time I spent with family at Lake of the Ozarks was paradise to me. The fact my cell phone doesn't work there is an added bonus.

PW, I am concerned that you cant unplug for awhile and be at peace with those that are with you at the moment.

Not sure where paradise is. Every place offers something. I like Canada for work, Europe for the architecture and the family attitude, the Caribbean for the laid back attitude. So I guess I have keep travelling around for my "Paradise"
