This is how 'Checkbook' rodders start...

...And it's not really a bad thing...

I've come to the realization that YES, I could do the work myself, but...

    A. I don't have the time
    B. I don't currently have the garage space for a major project
    C. I have family obligations that are... well... family. And fun.
    D. My checkbook can take a small hit, for quality work at least
    E. I want to bring business to a reputable talented local guy, who understands tradition, quality, and the American way.
    F. My welder sucks.
    G. My garage is friggin' cold in the winter.
    I. My other projects are in the damn way.
    J. There's no way in Hell I'm doing a project like this on my back, under a truck, on a dirt/gravel driveway in Nov/Dec/Jan...
    K. I still wanna get THIS project done, while I ACTUALLY work on a different one... And MAYBE get that one done... SOMEDAY...
    L. Did I mention my garage is friggin' cold?
    M. I'm gonna blame my welder, no matter what anyone says.
Yes, I'm a CarJunkie... How many times would YOU rebuild the same engine before getting a crate motor?

you know they make these things called heaters, that make the garage nice and toastie..
difference is you will be working on another project while you send another to a shop..
most checkbook rodders don't work on any project car/truck . but if you have the means to send work out, go for it, if I read your other thread correctly, it be money and time ahead to have a look out team of bangshifters look for a rustless vehicle in the dry areas as it'll be cheaper to get another and transfer your parts to it, ASSUMING that other thread was about the truck that's red oxide primer and not your green 55-56 chevy.. then fix the one you have.. working in the cold sucks but heater helps and a yardsale/flee market holiday hot plate that normally is used to keep the food warm is great for keeping the metal tools warm, just use a towel/rag on it if it's a glass one. and only set it to keep them warm not 150 * lol.. makes a HUGE difference in working on junk in the winter up here.. and they are cheap,
My next trick will be a small electric heater with a blower/fan from an r.v. that runs on 12 volts and a solar charger and deep cycle battery and pipe the heater outlet to a hole in my snap on tool boxes to keep the tools warm when i'm out working in the garage. flick a switch and turn it on before I start.. and the r.v. type will run on 12 volts and a/c for those burning the midnight oil thrashes..

          yes, excuses.

change the tip on the mig welder, back to brand new.
I see that mentioned several times...blame the welder.

I am in about 50 pounds of mig weld, a boat trailer from 1980, an old Subaru from head to toe..
and still get mad at power loss to a bad tip. I forget it. I even hunted down an electrical error once..all with a bad tip. The six minute rule applies today, even on good air cooled machines.

I got four in the glove box at any given moment today. I'd go checkbook, as I am getting older. don't forget the mask should be a #11 dim.

              Forget all the name callers.
Do what you can, and fork over for the rest.

We can't ALL do 100 percent of our cars, ya know.
But 100 percent of us can enjoy driving our cars...

              So.... rock on.

This, I spent 10 years , ( I pushed it in the corner for at least 3 years to clear my mind )

I did most but , used a pro builder for the motor , although I was there 100% the time during the build
