If you grease ball joints regularly, they last for a long long time....

But I did have to put new front end bushings in my 55 a few years ago, the ones I installed in 97 wore out.

Hummm.... $ 25,000. What to do.

I know, I would buy a nice 95 Mustang GT 5 speed and spend the remaining $ 20,000 for building it up.

I like older muscle. cannot afford it and would be afraid to drive a 'potential' investment.

Besides, I spent my time years ago driving a 69 Road Runner 413 Max Wedge, 4 speed, 4.88 gears, headers, and crappy brakes, steering, and lots of body flex. ;)

        That's a true statement, period.

It also describes me. I think a lot of have to reconsider the images we have of ourselves as people who put performance as the priority. What we REALLY mean is that we want the best performance for the cars we want to drive.

Glad you rephrased. That 1st comment took me by surprise especially from you. I also don't get the bit about reconsidering the images we have of ourselves. What image? I've always been a package guy. I Want a car in good shape with decent paint and interior and reasonably fast. My cars have never been as fast as I wanted them to be because of the $ involved. Sure I could've taken the money I spent on the interior and put it towards a new set of heads but I've never been willing to drive a 9 sec clapped out rust bucket so no reconsidering here.

Also, what do you mean by performance? For 25,000 I could build a car that would kill that Vette in the 1/4 and my buddies $20,000 '85 Porsche race car would kill it at Road Atlanta so I guess it depends on your definition of performance.
