    When History/Legend Lies

Watched a few episodes of that last night, that's a really cool show.

Like, Bonnie and Clyde were not at all glamorous like in the movie, they were ugly as sin. The show displayed a supposed real photo. Bonnie was 4 foot 11 or something, they were not physically imposing at all. Or pretty. The only thing true in history, as presented in the show, was that car they got shot to pieces in. Yeah, those are real bullet holes and today that would certainly cause a debate about excessive force.

And Al Capone didn't get brought down by Elliot Ness (I knew better than that one), it was a genuinely nerdly accountant that got him, no shots fired.

But from all the things they showed, it was the Apollo 11 mission story...I thought I had heard and watched and absorbed everything about the moon landing that was ever made available to the public. I already knew they were running out of fuel seconds before the moon landing. But what I didn't know was that one of them, while banging around in the lander fixing themselves up to go on the moonwalk with their humongous space backpacks, somebody broke the button off of the MASTER ARM button on the ascent engine switch on the control panel. And Buzz Aldrin stuck his felt tip pen into the hole to move the switch when it was time to leave. I'd never heard that one before.

And Betsy Ross didn't invent the American flag. It went on and on.

So, history/legend lies, or the TV show lies. Either way, it's great entertainment.

Bonnie was tiny, less than 5 feet. Clyde was only 5'3" himself. One of the reasons he loved Bonnie was he felt big and powerful when she was around.
      I'm probably wrong

Terri, since I got home from work today Unit and I both have been Googling it....that's not the real name of the show, I can't remember what it was. I thought for sure it was on either Discovery or History but since we can't find it anywhere I'm starting to believe I was using the guide on the remote to just surf for interesting-sounding shows on all the channels. So I don't know.....sorry.

Oh, and while us now-oldsters were watching Neil and Buzz walk on the moon live in those shadowy black and white images, NASA was watching in full color Hi-Def because that's what they had. But they had to feed dumbed-down signals to TV stations because that's all the TV stations could broadcast at the time. And those original NASA Apollo 11 hi-def tapes were recorded over to document later moon missions, if you can believe that show. Stuff we didn't know. Or something like that. The title of that show is evading me and driving me crazy trying to get back to it. It was real good.

I found it interesting, months after their spree, radios started winning, some state laws went federal. They are not famous for crime..they are famous for lack of law.

My uncle did something with a boat that would seem outrageous today... lucky he is deemed harmless.

Movies do show that Al Capone went to jail for tax evasion. The movie The Untouchables showed that the accountant got hold of his books and they were able to show how much income he was making.
