  • Edelbrock carburetor

Ok I will admit I don't know enough about the carburetor on my Impala. I want to know how I find out what size it is and how I should take the gas line loose to change the filter on the carburetor. I've changed the inline filter a about a month ago.
It's a Edelbrock with electric choke but I have no idea what size.

look at the number stamped on the front of the mouting boss, front pass side, such as 1406 or something similar, then type that number into google with the word Edlebrock, and you'll learn all you nee dto know.

Mine has no number there at all. It looks like it's been grinded off! It has WEBBER wrote on the side of it on drivers side.

I'm not sure how to tell the size without the casting numbers but I'm 99.9% sure there is no filter built into the carb. All I've ever had on mine is an inline filter.

they have a screen inside the inlet fitting, the filter needs to be external....like a WIX 33032 or 33033

that looks like a 33033 filter (or another brand's equivalent)

                should be fine.

As for the carb size...does it really matter?

I just want to know what it is so if I need parts for it. I could care less what it is but it would help in finding the right parts at a parts store!

all I can say is check with http://www.carburetion.com/after.htm

Only because you mentioned Webber, I get my Weber conversion carburetors for the CJ and YJ jeep from that place. When we got the one for the 90 and mileage went down to around 6, I called them to ask if they sent me a different altitude setup or maybe something set up for a 4 not a six and they could not answer my question. They told me to call redline directly and they told me that they had no idea how carburetion set up carburetors, they did not buy them complete, they bought partloads and do their own setup and full assembly. Anyway, when you go to that site they offer edelbrocks so maybe they do the same thing.

I do agree, that inline is fine as long as you replace it with one set up for the low pressure and not high pressure of a EFI system

Weber bought Carter, and Edelbrock bought the design from Weber.

measure the throttle bore sizes, figure out the size of the carb, and look up the jets and metering rods.
