Power potential of Olds Aurora V8's/aftermarket support?

CTX-Sleeper's thread on outdated race engines(Aurora V8's in particular)in Gen. Discussion really got me to thinking.

What were the HP ratings on the stock versions?

I'm not aware, of any, but surely some "Rocket" freaks latched on to the last of the Olds V8 engines and brewed up some SICK parts/tuning/ideas.

The mere thought of an IRL-spec Aurora angine nestled into the engine comparment of, say, a RWD Cutlass gives me a shit-eatin' grin.

    Anyone have any information?

This is merely a benchrace idea, but who knows.......

I think they were 240 hp stock......they have gotten some attention in the rodding world and have some parts available...

Shelby also used this engine in the Series 1.....

Isn't the production Aurora V8 just a smaller displacement Northstar?

Smaller bore, I think the same stroke. I had some ideas walking past them in the pull a part yard about turbos due to the fact that the walls were so much thicker than the regular northstar that according to legend they lightened the rest of the engine back down to 4.6L weight in otherways by stripping a lot of the advanced Caddy stuff off of the intake and out of the EFI system. The regular 4.0L's are everywhere around here in the yard, I could get you 6 complete enought to piece together atleast 3 from the pull a part alone.
