Between Dallas and Tulsa is a small place called Paul's Valley, OK. home of CoverCraft. They threw a great lunch in 2004 and cool tours of the factory.

lots of rumors about the 2011 route, with the exception of an announcement that it would end in Detroit.....aside from "where to start" rumors, another one had it that the tour would tie in somehow with parts of Route 66....rexx

                    Re: HRPT 2011

I'm not sure if it's true, but I ws told PT stays where the big sponsors want it to be. Seems that's the middle of the USA. Centrally located for those who pay the bills. Doesn't make everyone happy, but a lot sure do turn out for it.

May I suggest urging the PT sponsors to agree to more west one year, then more east the next year, then back in the middle. It's no longer an 8 day plus 1 day reat (9 day tour back a few years ago) making vendors gone from work 14 days+ when travel to and from is included. This also opens it up to more east coast, more west coast, more customers seeing the sponsors booths & merchandise they are selling - just in different years. I'm in the middle of the USA, but realize others areas want this event too, and they should get it too (without huge travel).

There's no perfect solution. Just idea's.

New Orleans (starting line party at Blakes ??? want to see if you can beat DTB's...it will be tough)
Memphis (had one of the best power tour times on Beale Street)
Nashville is always a good choice.
Bristol (since we didn't start there this year. availability of both tracks was cool)
                      Somerset (car freindly)
                      -somewhere in between?? -
                      Detroit (belch)
                      Bruce, Sanford, Fl

                      welcome to my world

Detroit with its awful roads in the 09 PT, I won't make the 11 PT.

Sponsorship is big, I think....maybe that's why 2011 is ending in Detroit (an opportunity for GM/major sponsor of the tour) to showcase their products, and re-do their chance a couple of years ago, when they were filing for bankruptcy)....rumors had the '11 tour starting in New Orleans, or somewhere on the gulf......maybe Dallas/Forth Worth (Painless a major sponsor)....then working north and trying to catch at least a part of what's left of Route 66....I think it's fair to say that Hot Rod has indicated that the tour would stay, for the most part, in the "middle of the country", however that's defined.......rexx
