  • Forum Freak spare tire interchange thread

Well, this sounds weird, but it came to me recently. I know some people (especially street rodders) run with no spare...I have a spare and would happily let someone use it if required. So...what size is your spare & what's the lug pattern?

Mine is the standard GM big-car 5 on 5" circle, tire is a 225/75R15 on a stock 15x6 steelie.

I carry a 205/70-15 on a uni-lug aluminum wheel that fits 5x4.75 and 5x5, but I only have 7/16 lug nuts for it. It takes "mag" style shouldered lugnut with a washer.
79 malibu that hopefully makes it for 3000 miles

Made it with no breakdowns, missing 2012

last cruise I did was a 300 mile round trip, the farthest the falcon has been so far. I carried tools a jack and a gallon jug but no spare. but i plan to hit the junk yard and pick up a stock steel rim and put a new tire on it before power tour. I am running vintage western aluminum slots 4 x 4 1/2 bolt pattern with 180/80/13 firestones. They use the mag style shoulder bolts but I will carry some stock lugs nuts in the tool box for the spare.

I believe the truck has a 265/70-16 under it. Came out last year for the first time ever. : The bolt pattern is 5x135MM. I will have my floor jack with me though just in case. Oh and a couple of spare 295/45-18's just in case.

I'm running 275-60R17 on the truck. Should have the same pattern as your truck Bob.

Re: Forum Freak spare tire interchange thread

i did always carry a wrong size spare 7.75x15 (afraid of getting trapped on interstate)
(now that i think about it, i never installed stock wheel on car with the disc brakes,
            it probably wouldn't have worked)

because of mini tub, spare well, now has a spring shackle pocket in it

            4 3/4 x 5 bolt pattern
are those inflatable spares still around or any other mini spare?
yes insti spare, plug kit, and a $8 harbor freight 12v compressor (works great) is in tool kit

yes, you can use my spare until i need it!

I don't carry a spare as well. Not that I wouldn't want too, but I can't run anything smaller than a 17" wheel, due to the upgraded Wilwood brakes, and well, I just don't have room for something like that.
