  • Hey Eliteman76

This hood worth anything? Not up on my ford stuff so I don't know if ALL torinos had the scooped hood. Thinking of you at the junkyard, LOL

Also found a couple fastbacks there just chillin' in the weeds....

If the hood isn't rotted around the support, or the structure, should be worth at least $200? Just depends on how much rust is in the seams.
Otherwise, the hood skin is still worth $$ for guys with a 73-76 Torino, 73-79 ranchero, etc.
What sucks, someone snagged the scoop insert but those can be found on ebay.

If that rear bumper is good, SAVE IT, it can be worth a bit if not beat to hell.
If that car has clutch pedals, GET THEM.

Last couple sets going on ebay...they are freaking $$$.

The plastic Grille surround and grille is worth snagging, even if cracked, if you can snag cheap enough.
Looks like the front bumper got pushed in. Damn.

I don't get into the older stuff pre-72, second one looks to be a 68-69.
I would also be saving the mirrors, they are 72-73 specific.
If it's got the sport door panels {not flat vinyl panel}, they are usually worth $100 if not chalked up and faded bad.

Floor shift steering column, another thing worth snagging.

    Hell, where is it hiding?

    LOL

Yeah you aren't far away. Come buy the whole damn thing. Last I was checking there, $400-500 will buy the whole damn car, strip it and sell for scrap will get you half that back. I seriously don't know a damn thing about the car, saw the scoop, thought of you. I did peek in the interior, brown vinyl, column shift, bench, "grand torino brougham". Underside of the hood looks to be your color. Kinda looks like someone started a repaint and then abandoned it, or it got towed, these guys buy stuff from tow auctions in topeka and manhattan. Google "Seneca Kansas" that will get you to my house on a friday night and then saturday morning we can go junkin'. Yard is about 15 miles outta my town. You will need more than one day though, I guarantee you'll come back. I will enclose a teaser pic of the yard. It is an "old school" drag yourself through the weeds kinda yard behind the family's house. Unadvertised, been passed on for generations, there's 30-40s cars hiding in the weeds down here. LOTS of 70s-80s junk that no one wants, yet. when someone does want it, it will all still be sitting there. Today I pulled my THIRD aluminum g body radiator support from this place. CHA-CHING$$$$ 40 bucks but I had to pull it, LOL.

I included a pic of the underside of the hood. Looks like it was just unbolted to remove the engine. Musta had a good engine if someone took it Also in the whole yard pic, this torino is clear off in the distance, in that group of trees in the left side of the pic. And the yard goes back about 6-7 rows behind where I was standing, and off to the right some more...

Yeah there's actually 2 of them in that area, but I've only hit one. That's almost an hour away from me to the west and a li'l north, I'm just over the state line, wymore is just on the other side of the line, but west a little more.

Looking at the hood, some rust by the latch, but easy enough to patch.

Ed, Wymore has around 1200-1500 trucks. I've not looked into trucks, but I also have not been down since last summer.

That other yard though, looks interesting.

I'm mostly curious.....it's always fun to check stuff out. I gotta finish Mary's coupe, but wouldn't mind something different for the next one, maybe a COE, or a Fleetline.....something different.

Yeah, this is NOT the time of year to be there. Weeds are so tall you can't see a thing. I went for a specific part (for one of my mopeds), turned out it was junk, so went pickin' instead.

The date in the whole yard pic was accurate. We went in february, to beat the weeds and more importantly, the critters. Easy enough to stay warm when you're moving a lot.

Fair warning, not a lot of early iron, what is here is getting bad because it's been here since the 60's. My brother wants to go next week for some parts for his sweptline, I will take a real camera again and focus on more than 80's g bodies, LOL. But stuff like 70's fords, they got by the dozens. 60s through 80s trucks, literally piled and stacked everywhere. A few 60's muscle cars but they're pretty picked over. School buses, semis, trailer houses, boats, they buy everything and just park it out there somewhere.

Never guessed this would be a two page thread in less than 2 hours.

Kinda figured it would be: "hey is this worth anything"

                              "nope"
