          284 -

Nice truck Ed... as was said, looking forward to seeing it on tour.

Well we're getting Fay's rain for second day - nearly 100% possibility for it today. We certainly need it with all lakes down.

Machine Shops here in Centrel NY Suck, not one tells you the truth about the schedule they can't meet.
I will not go though this again, I will build a spare short block this winter.
I can still make the MS Cruise in London Ontario, if I get the block back by Wed./Thrusday.

284...what a cool truck Ed, hope your friend decides to join us on PT. You haven't told him about all of us have you? : ;D Looked at a 65 Malibu SS 283 last night, only thing that kept us from bringing it home was storage and $$$. Might still just pick it up then worry about storage. ;) Glad to hear you all down south are getting some much needed rain.

                  284..
Thanks for the kind words, everyone. We got it unloaded and started the disassembly yesterday. Bob's busy laying out a plan of attack for it. Sure is clean. It came from Colorado, spent 25 years in a Kansas shed, and is almost rust-free. Still has floorboards too.
The guy that owned it saw us in 'Earl', followed us into a parking lot. He just wanted to see our '55 and happened to mention he had a '56 for sale. After all the years I've spent digging in the woods and getting ran off of people's property, a guy finally runs me down to sell me a classic. That probably won't happen again in my lifetime!
Bob is tickled, and I'll work with him to get it ready for next year!

Bob (alot of Bobs here), sorry about your engine/shop woes. The shops operate the same here. I wanted to let you know (it's sorta funny)....your CJTV forum freak thread keeps getting quoted on the HRM home page in the 'forums' section. Free ads are great!

                      284

First post since the end of 2008 PT. Been so busy with summer schedule, finished the Ford Torino Cobra and took it to the Syracuse Nationals in July, and to a Torino show in Detroit.

Waiting to book the 2009 PT and busy recruiting more Canadians to come along with us (cause we ran out of REAL BEER, not that American and/or Mexican stuff, and our car could only carry so much).

When does the HRM come out with their 2008 PT edition? Muscle Car Review already did (a sister mag to HRM - the September edition has a big spread on the PT and on the six cars they rode in - including mine!).

We are going to SEMA in early November and will be hooking up with the HRM staff and the Edelbrocks, so we will try and find out what the definitive route is for 2009 PT.

                      Can't wait. ;D

Bob I have found a excellent machine shop in the Houston area that will tell you exactly when to expect the motor work done. They have no problem telling you up front the it will take at least 6 months. The only thing is if they tell you when it will be ready, you can count on it being ready.

283, a great engine that came in my Chevelle and is still the original engine in my Chevelle.

                              283

I stopped at machine shop and block was in "Sunsand" honing machine, should finish final hone this AM.
Need grooved cam bearings for this block. block has a couple extra holes to plugged because of priority oiling, went on wide side of spec's for piston in bore. Using Cheaper KD pistons that need a little more attention, top piston ring end gap needs to be .034 and larger or they piston ring will pull top of piston off.
Should have 10.75 compression. Still alot for me to do to get engine assembled this week end.
                              Madison later than sooner.

Good news Bob - lotsa of work left but, once you get the block in your hands,it's very doable. So, how many HP do you anticipate it will make? Still sticking with stick?
