You will score major cool points if you keep the Ansens...
If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark Donohue
cool project... I had a 71 Skylark that the only thing holding on the roof was the lead filler at the B-pillars. And I threw it away and started again.... so my hat is off to you for 1) saving a GTO, and 2) doing such a nice thing for the guy who helped you out.... keep us informed.
I thought that all GTO/442/SS cars had boxed frames? (and station wagons/el caminos but who cares about those ;))

Thanks again guys. The car that made me unafraid of rust is the 71 Mustang you can see in some of my pics. We call if the Pit of Despair. For the whole picture go http://s189.photobucket.com/albums/z278/AuCinaoaMie/Cars%20and%20trucks/Fords/71%20Mustang/?start=all"]here.[/URL] It still isnt done, and its taking up space in the shop that I could be using to rebuild the 70 GTO or the 72 Formula.
For the short version these should suffice.
I'm in awe of guys like you who will tackle something that requires that much work. That is going to be pretty cool to show pics of the before and after to folks and watch their faces distort in disbelief.......

Thanks guys, who is Walt? NMU is a good college, my better half got her degree there. It would be cool to have another gearhead around here. Most around these parts are into snowmobiles and sometimes 4x4s.
