Tom, look at the first picture. Then look to the left of the Scott's paper towel roll. There's my solution.
You see the T5 bellhousing up top by the door?

Derp i see it now

It's back to the drawing board.
There's a part on the T56 that doesn't clear the adapter. And even if it had a hole to clearance it, the T5 bellhousing would hit on it. It is almost 1" long while the adapter is only 1/2" thick. I'd have to machine the bellhousing to make that work.
Another issue is their adapter is designed for an external slave with a fork that runs the throwout bearing up and down the retainer. I'd much rather be able to use the LS style throwout/slave setup to make things simpler on a swap and compatible with master cylinders like the Tick setups etc. etc.
I'm waiting from the guys at The Gear Box to shoot me back an e-mail. There's just so many things that are unnecessary variables that make it hard to prototype this thing with a company on the other side of the states.
I wish there was a bellhousing out that just allowed a straight swap. Might just deal with Mal Wood in Australia and bite the bullet on the shipping cost.
Pictures for posterity...

Check out the thread the Walt put up about his Escort's transmission needs. I bet you could duplicate that pretty easily considering all it looks like is a machined plate.

Well, I have a machined plate that is supposed to join the T56 case to a T5 bellhousing. Problem is shown in the first picture. That little 1" piece of metal would still hit the T5 through the 1/2" adapter plate I have.
I'm waiting on some word back from The Gear Box, if I don't I'll just go with the one from Mal Wood as they have had them installed on multiple cars w/ the L36/L67 motor.

Alternatively to buying the Aussie one - buy a LS scatter shield and adapt it to your motor like I did with my Buick.... here
I used the old bellhousing (as they do line up off the pins) to template for where the new holes needed to be - then drilled and added two tabs and then drilled those - worked like a charm
Or perhaps one of the bellhousing makers, like Lakewood actually make a bellhousing for your application http://store.prestoliteperformance.c...lhousings.html
