looks to be in good shape, the door lines, roof line, windshield. Cannot recall ever seeing that year here.Originally posted by NightShifterIt was an accident waiting to happen and I knew it, call it destiny. On the bright side I now have a nice set of Cooper Cobras and even a spare. No damage to the car, low speed incident.
There was a 60s RS a widow drove around, right into the 1990s. They changed a lot.Previously boxer3main

Love that sound. Fwap! Fwap! Fwap! Fwap! Be glad you werent speeding down the highway and the tire tear apart your car.
I poke fun because I've been right there too. But, I had a spare that had zero air in it. Then my car fell off that bumper jack. Nearly lost my fingers. A nice CHP officer came by, he had a tire pump, aired up my tire, and let me use the much better jack out of Caprice cop car.Last edited by Scott Liggett; May 21, 2013, 09:26 PM.BS'er formally known as Rebeldryver

I rolled the carcus off a from tire, after it beat up the lower fron t fender before I could get stopped the whole tread.came off. I had no spare either. When another 45 miles like that.Previously HoosierL98GTAComment

I peeled the treads of a Pirelli P-Zero Nero off like that. Made a wonderful racket slapping against the Mustang's rear fenderwell.Editor-at-Large at...well, here, of course!

I've lost the tread on one tire once after off roading in the Skylark.
I actually test the bumper jack in the Skylark annually now after Doc asked if I had it in 2011 to break the bead on a tire, and it was the one trip I removed it. The thing works pretty good and quick. I still use and keep a small floor jack in the trunk that I'd actually use to change a tire, but in the event the hydraulic gave out or something, it'd nice to have a backup.Escaped on a technicality.Comment

You can recreate the sound with three feet of duct tape. Fold it back on itself, leaving six inches of sticky stuff. Stick it to the inside of someone you dont like that day's tire. The right rear is the best. When the car reaches some speed, the tape will slap the inner fender loud enough to cause concern, but not damage.BS'er formally known as Rebeldryver

Geez. Glad you are OK. A little late in giving advice, but the next time you have a blow out don't stab the brakes or jerk the wheel. You want to keep the car upright.BS'er formally known as Rebeldryver

What happened to the best of your knowledge. I've been in two major crashes in my life, ( the first and the last ) that were supposed to be from blow outs while I was a passenger as well as 4 more where they were not crashes while I was a passenger that turned out o.k. as well as several with me driving that were really non-eventful. And will I'm talking here I don't want to sound like I'm some expert driving authority because sure as the world spins around the sun, God will show me I'm not with a crash of my own. In the cases where I was driving I simply didn't hit the break. Possibly tire design and or sidewall my have something to do with it. What'd 'ya think?Previously HoosierL98GTAComment

I think as well road conditions and what the conditions of the vehicle , like if a person was turning at speed and the type of vehicle it happens on. There were a lot of explorers with firestone that have rolled because of a blow out. This seemed to funny that after blaming Firestone they went and changed the front end front twin I beam or in the cas of four wheel drive, twin traction beam , to double A arm. Which is yours? By the way, glad your o.k.Previously HoosierL98GTAComment

Ford and independent testers proved that the rollover crashes in nearly all the cases were caused by driver error. It can to anyone. You are half alseep, one hand on the wheel and hear a loud bang. People jump when that happens. The wheel gets turned and over you go. People also instinctually slam on the brakes whenever anything scares them. Do both and over you go, especially in a vehicle with a high center of gravity riding on tires with six inches of sidewall.BS'er formally known as Rebeldryver
