I'll bet that car is 100% better come race day, or , it'll get parked, after a few laps..and there is no way the car owner wants or can afford that..

Yeah, your right, nothing motivates me more than some one whose not my boss publicly chewing my ass then expecting me to help them do better. : That really really motivates me.

maybe the first time they where told the car isn't right or the 2nd or 3rd, if they fixed it or at least made it better, that wouldn't have happened, some don't want to "just" run laps, some want to win..
those that do, do whatever it takes..

I don't have a problem with what she said about that being the worst car she's ever had. She's risking her life out there at 230 mph in an evil handling race car that she can't even run flat through the corners with. She was clearly still shaken from her qualifying run when they stuck the mike in her face, and she's probably lucky she didn't crash it. Tony Kanaan has way more experience than she does, and he crashed twice in the same spot just trying to come up to speed. Clearly there's a problem with the setup on the Andretti cars. They're not even in the same league with the Penske's, but as far as I know they've all got the same engines and chassis'. It's got to be the engineers that aren't getting it done.

I hope they've got it figured out by Sunday, or Helio's gonna lap the field a whole bunch of times.

While I may agree with most of what you said, it still isn't right for her to throw the team under the bus in a public venue. Back at the hauler or in the pits, rant all you like. When you're out in the public eye, however, you are representing not only yourself, your sponsor and your teams owner, but your team as well. Remember the tired old cliche? Say it with me: "There is no 'I' in 'team'" The sooner that the drama queen learns this axiom, the sooner that she will forge a stronger bond with her team and possibly win more races, or at least finish higher with greater consistency.

Makes one wonder what NASCAR is thinking in light of this little episode...

They don't call them "Race TEAMS" for nothing. You don't get on the PA and badmouth your team. That's just a silly excuse for saying "I'm unable to work with my team and help them get this car sorted out"

If they can't put a better car under her, she probably should be looking for a different ride. With the sponsorship dollars she brings along, it probably wouldn't be too hard to find one. She wants to win, and that car's not competitive. I'd much rather hear what a driver's really thinking, than a cliched sponsor popping publicist scripted interview like all the Nascar guys give. What's she supposed to say? "Wow, the Go-Daddy blah blah blah Honda crew gave me an awesome car today. We really had a shot at the pole out there. <sip of Coke> Best car I've ever had here." That would be a big fat lie.

Competitive folks can be tough to deal with.... She didn't come here to be a runner up.... or miss congeniality....

She came to kick some serious ass.... and the junk under her isn't doing that.... collectively the fella's need to put on their big boy panties and stick a ride under her ass..... or she'll throw them under the bus again....

I'm betting being on the crew is a Paid position....

why should this be any different? Because she's a girl?

No - what we need to face is that the touchy feeley politically correct bullshit of the past two decades is a big part of why we are in the mess we are in. Things need to change - do a half-assed job, expect to be hauled out and held accountable for it . And the more public it is, the less likely the same half-assed work will happen again.

As far as motivation is concerned, that's what your paycheck is for....doing your job to earn it is your responsibility. Fall short of what's expected of you to earn that paycheck, the consequences should be dire.

Appears to me, she just put her crew on notice - as public as it was, there should be no confusion over what the next step will be if they don't do their jobs.

I've heard guys from NASCAR do exactly the same thing she did.
If you aren't doing your job, then you find a way to motivate them to
do it. If their pay isn't enough, than maybe public humiliation will work,
cause as much as they are paid to work on those cars,
you shouldn't have to do that.

I see she got 16th out of 29...maybe she'd have done better with a better car...
