Hmm.. find one of those AMC Eagles (solid front/rear axles) put a couple 401s in it... and voila a safer version of the Hust Olds..... nahhhDoing it all wrong since 1966 -

Correct-a-mundo.
That was a one race wonder. It wrecked on it's mainden voyage. There are photos on the web of it prior to it's violent disassembly.

At the LSX shootout in Memphis this fall a dude had a real nice single engined look alike one. he had the old patina look and all, and was running it on the dragstrip.Living the dream!Comment

George Hurst was selling so many shifters back then they had time to play around with all kinds of projects like this and the HUG. My very first aftermarket purchase was a Comp Plus Hurst 4-speed, they were the chit.Comment

I bought the Nov. '08 issue of Hot Rod for what is probably that same car, pictured in the Power Tour article. The real deal car, however... just plain bad ass. Looks like almost as much of a handful as the Winged Express was.Comment

They used those Toronado transaxles in those big six wheel GMC motorhomes, they were pretty bulletproof. I wonder if that thing ever hooked up if they would have been as reliable.Comment
