Got a new toy, 1950 ford tow truck

I went to go look at a '47 Ford truck and the guy had this '50 F-1 that was turned into a wrecker a long time ago. It was love at first sight and I had to have it.

It has a '68 302 in it mated to an old 4spd trans with an Offenhauser adapter. Not sure what the dually rear is from yet. It runs and drives, but needs the lights wired up. There is a painless wiring harness run through the truck but it needs to be finished.

I can't believe I bought a tow truck.

Man that thing is awesome. The photos are cool and the story is cooler. I love the "wrecker service" along the hood.

Great find, Andy! man, you sure come up with neato stuff. Do you know if the winch, etc. work OK? Some cleaning up and a simple enamel paint job will make this perfect.

What a cool tow truck!! Yes, we're enablers, but that is one fantastic truck. My favorite Ford pickup design. And it looks in pretty good shape too. Now you have something to tow your Mustang with! So don't say you have no use for it! LOL

Friend had a late 50s ford tow truck, if it had been a chevy I would have it.

I should probably talk to Pete and see if he still has his 58 chevy tow truck and if he's ever thinking of getting rid of it. He'll probably keep it till he dies.

A lot of time and effort (and a roll of electrical tape) went into fabricating that exquisite piece of vintage, um .... mmm ran out of words.

That'd be totally cool if it still runs like....an old tow truck. Looks like someone painted over or sanded off the company name decades ago.
