  • Another CL Rant

OK I have a bike for sale on CL,only $125.

Why is the 1st or 2nd question out of peoples mouths "what's the lowest you'll take for it?"

I mean if I'm a buyer standing over a part at the swap meet I'll "offer" a lower less than the asking price.
But as the seller, never. My lowest price is as marked.

    Now wife is PO'd because I was a d!ck.

craigslist local for me is bizarre. Nothing that means anything sells, but the stampede for bald 195/65/15 inch tires...been that way as long as craiglsist.

That's something I learned quick. When I first went to the junkyard, I asked what he wanted. Now I tell him what I'll pay. I get better deals that way.

I always ask more than what I want because I know people like to haggle and when they jip me down 20 or 40 bucks they think they won...when I really got what I wanted

                    Re: Another CL Rant

But isn't the whole thing the world's biggest question? It's something I never learned in life at all, how to dicker. I mean, the price of a package of chicken is labeled right there in the cooler at the store. I'm not one to take it to the checkout and argue about it.

At least once I was standing on a new car lot with the high-pressure salesman at my elbow,, and I looked at the sticker and said, "That's too much." I was walking back to my dump of a POS ride, leaving, and the salesman was hanging onto my pasts begging, "Wait, we can do BETTER than that!"

All I could think was , so WHY do you have THAT price on the window? It's all a bunch of BS, and I don't mean BangShift.

I know what you mean about the bike guy. I had a 125cc bike listed for cheap as a backyard beater and the people that called were always asking me questions like I was selling a concours resto ready for the road. Waste of time.

You have to very explicit about what you are selling and that will save you needless calls
