One of the guys on our Engine Masters Challenge team who calculates our runner lengths and header dimensions, was a PT Boat engine maintenance guy for the Navy (also a Pipefitter). He shared some stories about how they made changes to the exhaust and picked up 10+ mph with the boats. The guys maintaining them did everything they could to get the speed up as high as possible. Lots of gains could be had by optimizing the exhaust on those Packard boat engines, from what he says.
