  • Dragracing in Holland... Everyone's involved!

This weekend, during a hard crash on a previous run, the track's safety-barrier tipped over.
With the combined strenght of a 'quartermile of spectators' the barrier was put back on it's feet again...

Cool deal - and all coordinated by a guy speaking in a foreign language!

So how did your racing go? Which car did you run? I still lust after your black station wagon.

I've watched them set those up for derbys... Not easy at all..
I doubt a machine could accomplish that feat...

Those folks reeealy wanted to watch some drag racing...

The company and rig that normally installs the barrier was not present at the field and it would take about an hour before it would arrive. So people to the power!

I wasn't there myself. The weather forecasts were very bad, again, (like on all the previous events aswell) and it's a miracle they were able to do some runs at all that weekend. Sunday was a rain out, as was the friday.
I've heard some of track crew have been on their feet on saturday from 6 in the morning till 10 in the evening, just to get as much runs as possible that day, as they knew it would rain again on sunday.

Below is a somewhat lousy clip of the Pontiac Fiero that spun out at half track and swiped the barrier.
I'll let BS-member Gerrit fill in the details as he's a helper/mechanic on the Fiero's team.
