NEWBIE! Well, I am not new to Car Junkie TV, but I am finally getting onto the Forums a little bit at a time. There seems to be a little less BS on here than most websites out there.

Here is some stuff about me:

Born and Raised in Camarillo, CA and never want to move out of Southern California. I drive a 2001 Mustang Cobra and a 1964 Ford Falcon. Both are fun to drive and that's all that matters. Now that I have the Cobra, more projects can be done to the Falcon. Stay Tuned... I do 99% of my own work on the floor of my garage. I also end up working on many of my friends cars from time to time. My weekends are filled with the race team, www.jeffwilliamsracing.com and I spend too much free time working on stuff for the team....But I love it.

I doubt if I'll get to go. I see you're in Daytona. We were down there back in Oct/Nov last year and Sept in 06. We stop there in heading down to Miami for a cruise. Hopefully we get to go again in 09 somewhere around Oct/Nov range. I love eating at Shells Seafood! $$ but worth it in our book! I'll let you know if we're headed down anytime soon.

Re: Newbies Introduce Yourself Here! Welcome!

                    Hello!
My name is Cheston Phillips. I like in Kilgore TX which is 120miles east of Dallas. I'm 27 years old and back in school. After highschool I got into the auto tech program at the local junior college, then moved to Houston to go to the School of Automotive Machinists, then moved to Oklahoma City OK to work at an oilfield machine shop. Now I'm back at the junior college working toward getting a degree in mechanical engineering.

My dad owned a Corvette when I was born (orange C3), and I've been into bowties ever since. I got started driving my dad's old 1982 Mercedes Benz 3.0L 5 cylinder turbo diesel. I thought it was fast with 120hp in a 5000# car

After I blew that up, I bought my own car that I still have. A white 1991 Caprice with the TBI 305 L03 backed by a 700R4 and a 2.56 geared 7.625" open rear end. I really wanted a 90s Impala SS, but didn't know enough about the differences in the cars at the time. The Caprice eventually ran a 16.599@81 at Hallsville Raceway before I found my black 96 Impala SS in Feb 2000. The week after buying the SS it ran a 15.2@92, and I thought it was really fast! Bone stock it could run 140mph and it didn't shift into OD until 120mph! I did the bolt-on thing with that car and worked it down to a [email protected] on a cold night in Baytown (Houston Raceway Park.) When I got married in 05 and moved to OKC, the SS took a much needed break that has lasted WAY TOO LONG.

We picked up a 2004 Impala with the 3.8L, and I drove my wife's old 96 Olds LSS for a year before it pooped out on me. In 2006 I bought my 05 orange Silverado with the LM7 5.3L. It is close to the same hugger orange as SAM's 99 HOSS racecar and kinda close to the orange of my dad's old Vette.

Since it is no longer my daily driver and has over 170k miles on it, I've been making my SS more of a dedicated drag car.

My old Caprice is sitting under a carport at my grandparents' farm waiting for me to get some money. I've dreamed for years of taking that out to the Salt... My family has told me that I should sell it, but it was MY first car and it isn't costing anything sitting where it is. I might be able to get a grand or so from it, but that would get spent, and I would no longer have the car. My wife often says how much she misses her first car (77 Ford LTD) so she doesn't complain too much about it being out there.

Freiburger, I like this site and forum. The layout is pretty nice. I really enjoyed reading HRM while you were there. I loved the F-bomb and HRM Spl builds in particular. I've noticed a lot more typos and errors since you left...

Also, I think I met you during the last PRI show in Indy. Didn't you go to SAM's dinner at the Spaghetti Factory?
Edit: I even remember reading the latest Hot Rod at the time on the airplane on the way to PRI. It was this issue: http://www.hotrod.com/whereitbegan/h.../photo_61.html

Duane Carr here from Columbia TN. 49 yrs. old

I've been around Cars, Trucks and Motorsports of one form or another most of my life. Drag Raced for about 25 yrs. and got introduced to LSR in 2004 and am now a Glorified Fan at Bonneville and have entered once at Maxton NC. ( 6/08 ) with my 19 yr. old Son and a bone stock 1986 Monte Carlo SS. We will return there in April 09 with an engine to get us both up to 135 mph and then I'll look for another car to dedicate to LSR.

I've been lurking around here since late last year, joined back in Jan. and made my first post yesterday.

Rusty Rives from Clanton, Alabama. 43

My brother got me into cars when I was in high school. I liked them so much I became a mechanical engineer. I haven't ever worked for an automotive company, but I have designed a lot of manufacturing equipment used by suppliers.

I have a love/hate relationship with my hot rod- a 1965 Chevy stepside C10. I have owned if for over 20 years now and have done everything you can imagine to it. It currently has a 461 cubic inch Olds engine in it with Rocket Racing heads on it. I haven't taken this engine down the strip yet, but I should. I just bought a new torque converter- that is the last thing that I need to take it to the strip. The rest of the driveline is a manually shifted TH375 and a 12 bolt car rearend with ladder bars. The truck also has a roll cage in it and is painted Pontiac Carousel Red (aka Chevy Hugger Orange.)

I like the site. Keep up the good work. Good luck on the truck project.

Frieburger, Chad- either of you planning on being at drag week?
