    California Manhunt

I got a message from Phil asking me how I was doing. Most of you may have seen the news across the country about the LAPD officer that was fired and now taking revenge on law enforcement. His truck was discovered burned out this morning about 1 mile from my house. It was found about 0830 hours and the fire was out so I believe he dumped the truck and burned it while it was still dark as it went unreported but was found well after daylight.

So while Big Bear is not under lockdown, there are a lot of law enforcement aircraft buzzing the house and lots of officers out patrolling.

They don't know if he is still around this town but we are expecting up to a foot of snow tonight and tomorrow. I believe this guy dumped his truck, looking for food and water and possible shelter for some sleep as he's been on his killing and shooting spree since last sunday when he killed the daughter of an LAPD Captain in revenge, shot an LAPD officer this morning about 0115 hours and then shot and killed a Riverside Police officer and critically wounded his partner in an ambush.

I'm well armed and a 30 year retired leo so I am not worried. I appreciate the concerns and will keep all of you posted!

    saw the army photo.
I bet he got some manly shots (looked quite "juiced")

    real shame. integrity snapping ...
I am sure he keeps a target rather than random.

Yeah saw the stuff on the news about this buy.....real whacko.
Wild stuff the truck was not far from your place.......getting a foot
of snow will not make life in the wild easy for him.

      Stay safe.

Police shot at three people by mistake last night. Nearly killed two old ladies delivering papers because they were in a dark pickup. Morons shot at another dark pickup. Lucky they didnt anybody.

My guess is he isnt in Big Bear anymore. Set the truck on fire and drove off in the direction while they all converged on it.

Doug, be safe and I hope you don't have to call on your training and experience to protect your home and family, but if you do, make it count.

Like Thom said, be safe (and be vigilant)

I agree Scott, LAPD was over anxious and almost killed 3 people this morning in LA. Definite policy violations in both situations and there is no room for that when this type of person is out terrorizing the southland.

I also doubt he is in big bear anymore but you have to know he is tired, hungry and thirsty and he can get all of that up here by breaking into some of the vacant cabins not to mention he can get a car up here. I've never seen so many houses with all their lights on, people are definitely nervous up here.

I worried about you and my Bonneville friends, the Stewarts. Hope all are well and safe and that the guy is caught soon. I wonder if he killed himself up there in the wild?

I doubt he'd do that Dan because he wants to take out as many LAPD officers on his list as he can but you never know. This morning we are getting hit pretty hard with snow so the aircraft are grounded and the officers on the streets are going to have a harder time. School is closed today due to the manhunt. Last night was quiet in the southland and here in Big Bear. They did track his foot prints in the snow yesterday from where his truck was found but I have not heard what the result was other than they have not found him.

So, in the meantime the manhunt continues.

I've been keeping up with this on the news.... Crazy that his truck was found that close to you. I read on Foxnews that his wallet and an ID were found not far from the San Diego Airport and that he attempted to steal a vessel to get to New Mexico. When I read that, Rett came to mind.

Stay safe everyone. Keep your head on a swivel!!

I recall a manhunt here (meaning, on this street) a few years ago...a "homeless" guy out in the riverbed came after another guy with a sword of all things and cut him up a bit. They did not find him despite helicopters etc.

...Until a couple months later. Same homeless guy shoplifted some CDs from the K-Mart, was confronted by security in the parking lot, and pulled out a gun and shot the guy (young Marine with a family, moonlighting p/t) dead. Witness took the shooter down. There is a memorial at the location.

So anyhow, I hope they find him. Ideally, already dead.

Be vigilant indeed - maybe justice will be served and he'll be eaten by a Bear in the woods.

If he is still here and has not sought shelter he won't last long. We've gotten about a foot of snow so far today and still coming down hard. He is military trained and has learned the basics of diversions which is what I think San Diego and Big Bear are. Its just speculation, I'm still hoping he shows up at my door for a drink of water. I have a welcoming committee waiting for him!
