    Tennessee Roads

You folks who are coming through here on Power Tour, you have the opportunity to drive some of the best two-lane roads I've ever seen in the United States. Fantastic.

They might be slow, you might get stuck behind a bluehair going 25, or a farm tractor for miles on end going 15 mph, no passing zone. But the roads in eastern TN, the roads off of the big roads..

We're going for a ride tomorrow behind Superman, what he calls The Loop. About an hour round trip. We'll be following him in his Corvette. He knows the way. Beautiful drive, beautiful scenery, curves, hills, fun.

Really, there are some fantastic driving roads, right here.

Oklahoma had some nice roads last year on PT - no hard freezes mean no damn potholes I guess. Nebraska roads SUCK, period.

I got a few of those too.. I even call it a loop.

an hour long one I give 60 miles.

to realistically glance at a map, the roads you refer to are the whole east coast.. just head for the hills.
moderate or mountain, whatever the mood.

Reminds me of my dads story of delivering new soda machines to some Appalachian trail club. He had his rig going to the tops of places.
long day there. one soda machine at each place.

I mention it, as Tennessee was one of them.

it's not the freezes....it's concrete vs asphalt.

Honestly, you Power Tour folks, from here to Charlotte, don't take the interstate unless you're in a hurry to get there. You're missing a lot if you do. BUT in the same distance, be ready to get there about dark. But what a great trip.

This hybrid route will take you outta here alongside the Ocoee River, where the Atlanta Olympics held the kayaking competition, with a run on the interstate to make up some time:

Fer sure. Notice in the fine print on the front of the building, the Texaco station is also the United States Post Office for Reliance, TN. That's what I'm talking about, that's the stuff you see on the two lanes through the mountains.
