I had every intention to go up to this auction until I saw the bidding online. I had planned to bid on one of the 63 Impalas for a parts car. The car I had interest in went for $5100...........I gave $500 for mine and its in immaculate shape compared to it! Had some friends go up and watch the crazies with pockets full of money. I'm just waiting for buyers remorse to set in..........

My car that I paid $500 for.

That's a damn nice parts car.

I didn't go today. Decided to be a bum. This whole deal looks like a bunch of people getting wrapped up in the hype. I wonder how they will feel in six months after spending stupid money on rust buckets.

Maybe some of this cars could have been bought cheaper.

HOT ROD is “where it all began,” as the first magazine to cover the hot rod culture. Since that time, HOT ROD has evolved into a brand devoted to everything from hot rods to restomods, barn finds to project cars and everything in between.

$140,000 for the 58 Cameo was ridiculous. $80,000 was the Vette is right up there too. The market value for the Vette may be $40,000 because there are no miles on it. 78 Pace Cars with low mileage go for less than $30,000. Stupid money.

People are definitely getting caught up in the hype......sort of like a Barrett-Jackson in a hay field.

I'm thinkin that these cars are not going to carry any more fundamental value just because of the venue
                      it came from.

A rusted out hulk with 4 miles on it .........is still a rusted out hulk.

None of these cars and trucks are all that special beyond their fascinating back story. Their only redeeming quality was they have no mileage and some have never been titled. The prices are reflective of cars that should have been are museum quality with no mileage and untitled, not cars that have been outside for decades. When reality sets in for the buyers, I see those trying to turn a profit reselling them are all going to lose money. When you pay triple the value of a low mileage Cameo truck, how do you make a profit? It's not 2006 anymore, people aren't spending stupid money for just any classic anymore.
