  • Tire size question

72 Olds 442 with 15" wheels. What tire size? I want all 4 the same size and to have somewhat of an OG look. So, nothing real big and meaty. Thoughts? THX

    How wide are the wheels?

all the smae size? Man, those cars look killer with big n' littles...especially with some meat out back to fill up the wheel wellls...

the guys on the Olds forum say a 245 60R15 will give you the same ride height as if it were stock with a 14" rim.....

The wheels I'm looking at are OG's from a mid 70's Olds, so, pretty sure they're 7" wide

Yeah, I'm starting to think my Skylark's are 65's not 60's.

I would tend to go with the 245/60's... just tend to like the filled out fender look...

245/60-15 is about all a 7" rim can handle, it takes a chrome trim ring to keep it from looking bloated on the rim IMHO. I'm more fond of a 235/60-15.

This. I have 235/60/15s on my 15x7 steelies and they work great.

245 or 255 60's in my book the 225 or 235 look kinda small, too small on those rims.

Those cars have big wheel openings ... I'd say 245/60R15 as well. Way back when on my 72 Cutlass S I had 255/60R15 and 265/60R15 on the 7" Olds wheels, still had room. 245/60 would be a nice compromise.

                        cheers

I'm wanting a bit of an OG look. So, looking for less meaty tires, more so than filling the wheel well. I might go 215/65/15 and lower the car 1" from stock
