That is pretty scary, could have been a whole lot worse though.
Just groovin' to my own tune.

Something similar happened on CC's Anti-Tour 2012 during the downtown cruise. Driver was not familiar with the car. Ignition key hung below dash on left side of steering wheel. He did what he could, missed hitting five cars, but plowed into a pickup.

Prayers out for the judge who got hurt.

Easy to say when it's not happening realtime, methinks. I'm sure the guy driving wasn't a complete idiot. My argument is "don't be in such a rush to finish a build that you skip the important stuff"

Show cars are usually full of problems that never get addressed. It's really hard to have a good looking car AND one that drives with no problems.

that's for sure. Heck, it's hard enough to make a car that drives with no problems, and doesn't look that good.

understood, but still.. years ago when I was like 19 my s-10 throttle stuck , I just turned the key.. my 71 el camino. with junk edel carb. did the same I popped it out of gear.. then turned key.. this is one thing, I truly believe should be on a lic. to drive test.. hope those hurt. recover fast..

The Caprice's throttle got stuck. I was skidding with the brakes locked up, both feet on the brake pedal for a couple of seconds before I could get to the key. Longest burnout that car ever did.

I am sure the owner was nervous anyways showing his car off for judging, probably never drove it more than from the shop into the trailer and back out of the trailer for the show. Knowing what you want to do in a panic situation and getting the body to respond instantly is another. It's gets harder as one gets older, hence all the stories about granny plowing into grocery stores because she couldn't get her foot off the gas pedal.

Even professional drivers have been known to have stuck throttle accidents. Remember the late Adam Petty at New Hampshire? Or Kenny Irwin? Or Dennis Setzer?

12 years ago today, NASCAR lost one of its brightest young stars on a bright afternoon that belied the somber mood in the garage...

Perhaps we ought not be so quick to "backseat drive" these sorts of tragedies.
